Who are the most decadent rock bands concerning drug use, lifestyle, attitude, etc.?

I recently saw a biography on A&E about Motley Crue and now I'm obsessed with the Rock and Roll lifestyle, vicariously.

Zep was pretty bad for their time, most 80's metal bands, the Mamas and the Papas (John Philips mainly) were wacky/insane (not in a good way) in that regard.

Led Zeppelin really set the standard when it came to rock n roll decadence! But i really think motley crue took it to another level where members are so caught up in addiction that it laterally tore the members apart. Nikki Sixx died a couple times from overdoses! Vince Niel got away with murder. Tommy Lee walked the line and did a massive amount over drugs also. Mick Mars was a huge alcoholic and partnered his chronic spinal disorder fell so fare into drugs and alcohol that he became a hermit for years and nobody even knew if he was still alive.... Aerosmith was also really bad! same with Guns N Roses and of course Kiss!

The Stones were considered the 'original' bad boys of rock n roll,
some of the stuff they got up to in the sixties was pretty nuts for
that time period (most of it Keith).

But for most decadent it has to be the Crue- fights, jail sentences,
overdoses, sex tapes, alcoholism, drug addiction, car crashes..
Those guys really lived it. Nikki Sixx had to die before deciding to give
up smack!!

exactly how does one "die a couple times"?Shot up heroin, overdosed and was pronounced dead for a while. After he was finally revived he went home and shot up heroin again.

Sex Pistols, Beatles (Lennon mostly), Doors (Morrison mostly), James Brown, Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd).

Actually, most of the music we hear comes from people who use drugs and live(d) without regret.

If you've read "The Dirt" then you know it's Motley Crue. Reading Nikki's explanation of what it was like when he died is beyond insane
