Alright, guys.

I come to the CR forum for help! I'm getting together with a couple of guys and we're gonna play a gig at a bar in this small little town. The town is basically full of cowboys (as in guys who wear Wranglers, drink Bud, and go offroading with their pickup trucks). They listen to mostly country and some old rock tunes.

So far I have:

Georgia Satellites - Keep Your Hands to Yourself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMFMf9cN64U)
George Thorogood - Get a Haircut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iHFA31l1uY)
J. Geils Band - Angel in Blue (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4YhOCnxADw)
Dwight Yoakam - Guitars, Cadillacs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knroQ2GjKdY&feature=related)
Ernest Monias - I Hear You Knockin' (Dave Edmunds Cover) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrWz9MpaJ_0)
Dwight Yoakam - Suspicious Minds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whr-o573kJc)
John Fogerty - Rockin' All Over the World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvqcHOrW7G8)
Bruce Springsteen - Tougher Than the Rest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MRaw9P07mM)
Blue Northern - Blue You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hb-PZgwUoA)
Nazareth - Love Leads to Madness (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiNgH1JgY9A)
Trooper - Thin White Line (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrIsEmit4PA)

That's what the playlist looks like right now, but we have room for about 15 minutes worth of music to fill and we can't think of anything.

So, lets hear it. Another ballad or two wouldn't be too bad (though there's more than enough slow songs).

EDIT: Forgot. We have 1 acoustic guitar also, and a keyboardist along with everything else.

Anything by CCR would be well accepted in a place like that. Another suggestion would be to do some Tragically Hip... New Orleans is Sinking would go over well :)

If you're gonna do a Skynyrd song, pick "Saturday Night Special" or "Gimme Back My Bullets". I'd be willing to bet that even rednecks are getting at least a little tired of "Sweet Home Alabama".

Do you know Shooter Jennings? Or Ryan Bingham? Hank Williams III? They're newer outlaw type country or country rock. Hank and Shooter of course are descended from country royalty.

@joeythedrummer - I love The Tragically Hip, but "New Orleans is Sinking" might be lost on rednecks...

Here's a few:

Shooter Jennings - 4th of July (or, if you have a slide guitarist try Busted in Baylor County)
Ryan Bingham - The Other Side, or Tell My Mother I Miss Her So
Molly Hatchet - Flirtin' With Disaster
Pure Prairie League - Aimee
David Allen Coe - The Ride
Charlie Daniels Band - Long Haired Country Boy
Hank Williams Jr. - Family Tradition
Nazareth - Hair of the Dog

Where is the gig? I'm in Wisconsin and I know the rednecks around here like Staind and Nickleback. I can't stand Nickleback myself, but who knows, it might work out for you if you can stomach it... Which also brings to mind adj209's Ted Nugent suggestion. The Rednecks around here love Ted Nugent, but he's also been known to hunt in this area so I'm sure that's a part of it.

The Rodeo Song by Gary Lee and the Showdown

Great song that will make the night.

If you don't know it, search you tube.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Completely forgot about Petty and Skynyrd. I'm thinking Call Me the Breeze would get the place rocking. I also like Family Tradition and think it would go over pretty well except for the lack of a fiddler.

As for the Hip, the gig will be in a small Canadian town so that would probably go over well. :haha

CCR is probably a necessity but I don't really want to play too much. I'm thinking maybe Green River or Fortunate Son? Either way, the suggestions are really helpful.

^Ah, I didn't know you were Canadian man. I know the Hip are pretty big in their home country. I just know that they aren't well known in the states at all. In that case, play 'em!
