I just flicked on the radio and heard the tail end of a song that I thought might've been Pearl Jam, or Silverchair, or Live, or Eskimo Joe, probably not Metallica though. How come so many bands go with that sound? I never heard anything good said about it.

you mean when the snare of really really tight and sound like a drum stick hitting a metal drum head? yea thats way better than a flimsy wimpy snare

Our drummer in my band has 2 snares: a normal one and then a trash can one for blasties :p:

I like a fairly punchy snare when its in the right context. For blast beats its perfect, but for other genres, not so much.

I get what he's saying. I don't really prefer it but it depends on what the song calls for really...
