I'd like to create a thread to motivate people to try new things and find new muses and influence for their music.

For example, my current influence for writing would be composing a tune based on Fractals, so I could link something like this and write -

My current inspiration - fractals! (

Or you could link a band, or a text or anything at all that inspires you at the moment down here, and maybe it could spark creativity or interest in someone else, and they could post their songs up on the thread or on the forum later.

If you have any inspiration lately or something that really sparks your creativity share it with us, I'm always looking for fresh new ideas and different things to interpret into music =D

Cool thread!

I really like pictures of natural environments -- no animals, no humans, just nature. It helps me focus, really.

Here's my 'inspiration' - dark seas! (

Yep, I get inspiration from pictures too. Mostly weird, intense space scenes or, like Wquennasar, nature. I also like pictures from maps, mostly from classic games, especially Quake III Arena (, but I also find a lot of inspiration from the level design in Mass Effect ( I think it's funny that I draw more inspiration from this for songwriting instead of when I'm actually mapping for games. Also, for some reason, I can never get any inspiration from anything I listen to, none of my more recent songs sound like my supposed influences. I guess that's good, but I find it odd.

Well now, while looking for fractal images on the internet I have found a website which creates fractal music from computer algorhythms, with several different tools that can create midi pieces through different parameters either pre-set or that you can set yourself.

Check it out it's really cool!
