If you could put together a dream band with artists dead or alive, who would you pick? Mine would go something like this:

Vocals - Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy/Grandslam)
Lead Guitar - Slash (Guns n Roses/Velvet Revolver)
Bass - Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Rythm Guitar - Gary Moore (Colloseum II, Thin Lizzy)
Drums - John Bonham (Led Zepplin)

This thread has been done soooo many times by so many newbies, that this will become the ONLY thread for your dream band

i think this thread has been done already.

vocals - robert plant
guitar - jimmy page
bass - tim from RATM
drums - dave grohl
2nd guitar - pete townshend

jesus that band would be insane. hahaha. i cant even begin to imagine what that'd sound like.

10-08-2004, 10:25 AM
Yeah, it's been done, but oh well

Vocals - Robert Plant
Guitar 1 - Slash
Guitar 2 - Stevie Ray Vaugh, i always thought those two would complement each other for some reaosn...
Bass - John Entwhistle
Drums - Neil Peart

10-08-2004, 10:37 AM
OK Heres a contemporary version:

Vocals: Brandon Boyd
Lead Guitar:Mark Tremonti
Rythym/Second Lead: Mike Einzinger
Bass: Les Claypool
Drums: Dave Grohl

If ignorance is bliss, wipe the smile off my face. -Zack DeLaRoche

10-08-2004, 11:10 AM
ah so what if its been done, i'll say again:

lead guitar - slash
rhythm guitar - hendrix
bass- flea
vocals - freddie mercury
drums - john bonham

i tried not to use any 2 from the same band

10-08-2004, 11:12 AM

vocals:brandon boyd
guitar: tom morello
bass: flea
drums: john bonham

but dont count there ****e stuff for brandon boyd count his amazing vocal parts on something like agrophobia or stuff

10-08-2004, 11:17 AM
Vocals - Geoff Tate (Queensryche)
Lead Guitar - Steve Vai (Steve Vai)
Rhythm Guitar - James Hetfield (Metallica)
Bass - Les Claypool (Primus)
Drums - Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)

10-08-2004, 11:27 AM
Drum-Vinne Paul (Pantera/Damage Plan)
Bass-Justin Chancellor (Tool)
Lead Guitar-Dimebag Derrell (Pantera/Damage Plan)
Rythym Guitar-Wes Borland (Limp Bizket, Bigdumbface, The Damning Well)
Lead Vocals-Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/Audio Slave)
Scream Vocals-Nathan Gray (Boy Sets Fire)

Reasons: Dimebag and Vinnie are both extremly good, and always travel together in bands. They would of both been members of Megadeth if Mustaine dident already have a drummer. Justin is an awsome bassist. Listen to Tool albums and find out. Wes wouldent make the best lead, but at rhythem, he is one of the best at present. For the singers, I chose two because being a front man who does sing and scream. Your voice gets haggerd after so much screaming. Two singers with two diffrent intensitys will keep both sounding as good as possible. Chris Cornell should be an obvious choice. As for Nathan. Very intense in both voice and political views. Maynerd James Keenan was also a close choice for Vocals.

For a classic:

Drums-Neil Peart (Rush)
Bass-Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead)
Lead Guitar-Randy Rhodes (Ozzy)
Rhythem Guitar-Angus Young (AC/DC)
Lead Vocals-Jim Morrisan (The Doors)

10-08-2004, 12:17 PM

10-08-2004, 09:27 PM
Does anyone even look before you post?

I realize you're a total noob, and I don't mean to scare you off at all. But I find it ironic that no new people have the sense to wait a week to see how often these idiotic threads pop up.

EDIT: It's... about... time.

One I'd like to hear the final sound most:
Bass - Flea
Drums - John Bonham
Guitar - Jimi Hendrix
Vocals - Freddie Mercury

They all seem like they'd mix quite well (except Freddie, but I don't think the vocalist effects the sound of a jam band that much lol.)

Out of pure talent and orgasm to hear the quality of the music they play:

Bass - Victor Wooten
Drums - Neil Peart
Guitar - Joe Satriani
Vocals - Freddie Mercury

10-08-2004, 11:14 PM
Are you serious? I'm not messing around this time, this thread has been run into the ground countless times before, not mention that there already is a pre-exsisting ultimate band thread on the first page of this forum. Just look before you post, and double check to make sure that some else hasn't come up with the same genious idea as you. I don't want to come off harsh, but this really has to stop.

indeed that would be rather amusing :haha

perhaps Dr Suess would request the addition of green eggs and ham - if he could get a word in edge-wise over the rest of the band wildly soloing over each other (and the sound of eddie applying more hair spray) :D

ummmmm... i rekon this:

Vocals - Freddy Mercury
Lead Guitar - Tommy Emmanuel
Lap Guitar/backup vocals - Ben Harper
Drums - Dave Grohl
Bass - i dunno many bass players but krist novoseli was alrite.

Reasons: ummmm, i coudn't think of a vocalist, and other people said Freddy Mercury and i thought hey yeah he's alrite ey. Tommy Emmanuel is quite simply the most talented guitarist alive, even though he mostly does country, i rekon if you could adapt his style it would sound pretty wicked. Ben Harper is the best lap guitarist ive ever heard, and i thought it would add a difference to the music, and his voice is amazing, also he is a great songwriter so could help alot with that. i dont really know much about bass/drums and dave grohl and krist novoselic are basically the only ones i know, so i threw them in, but the rest of the band would be good, even if they could possibly be improved.

Winter Blues
11-28-2004, 11:41 AM

Lead Guitar:
Albert Collins
B.B. King
Stevie Ray Vaughan (Would Also Play Rhythm)
Buddy Guy
Johnny Winter
Robert Johnson (Would Also Play Rhythm)
Hound Dog Taylor
They would all play lead guitar, and for every song each guitarist would solo, or compliment each other as one of them soloed, or two would solo at the same time and the others would throw in some tasteful fills and stabs.
Rhythm Guitar:
Stevie Ray Vaughan (Would Also Play Lead)
Robert Johnson (Would Also Play Lead)
Robert Cray
Jimi Hendrix
David Gilmour
They would supply the rhythm as the others soloed. Stevie and Robert would go off soloing when the solos began, though.
Bass Guitar:
Tommy Shannon
Nathan East
John Paul Jones
As usual, they would play bass
John Bonham
Neal Peart
The drummers.
B.B King
Albert Collins
Stephen Stills
They would sing over the songs that werent instrumental.

Albert Collins, B.B King, Stevie Ray and Buddy Guy would be the principal songwriters. Jimmy Page would produce it all.

11-28-2004, 09:10 PM
Vocals: John Lennon
Lead Guitar 1: Jimi Hendrix
Lead Guitar 2: Jimmy Page
Rythym Guitar: Pete Townshend
Bass 1: Les Claypool
Bass 2: Flea
Drums 1: John Bonham
Drums 2: Keith Moon
Drums 3: Mitch Mitchell

Jimi and Jimmy would play seperate lead parts at the same time and still sound good. Les and Flea would play bass at the same time, with Les doing bass solos and Flea just keeping the rythym. The drummers will all play at the same time (like Slipknot), but there won't be a "lead drummer". All three drummers will play different parts.

IT WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kinda bends the genres though.

putting john, jesse and adam on the same stage at the same time is just asking for someone to turn up dead. probably adam. but if they didn't hate each other it would be awesome.

I'm going to do two:

I've always wondered what it would be like for jesse and conor to sit down together and write a song.

The reincarnated Styx that is Touring now is beastly, only I would replace their second guitarist with Chris Carraba, because he's capable of Doing the Harmonies. There arent all that many people that sing high enough to hold their own with Tommy Shaw, but I think he can do it.

okay, that was 9 months ago /\

Now I'll probably have to go with

no vocals

^That would probably be impossible to organize and make good sounding music with all of those members. It would just be a wall of noise. Good list nevertheless

01-20-2005, 05:26 PM

Yeah- I guess Zeppelin is the greatest four musicians I can think of. I'd throw in Hendrix and make it an insane five piece, but that might not help.

Everyone who is posting Flea as a bassist with three rock stars:
Flea is fast and creative, but I have never heard a ****ing rock bassline out of him ever. JPJ easily slaughters him in every way. Just listen to the Lemon Song- Led zeppelin II

The would be the coolest thing the music world has ever seen.

01-22-2005, 03:40 PM
Vocals (Singin): Maynard James Keenan
Vocals (screams): Kurt Cobain
Guitar (lead): Paul Gilbert
Guitar (rythm/lead): Zack Wylde(maybe Dave Mustaine)
Drums: Danny Carrey
Bass: Les Claypool

Reason: MJK can sing well and can scream very effectively but for higher pitches Cobain would be better. Paul Gilbert is an amazing guitarist and could easily play anything for a solo and diversify the chorus and rythm parts. Wylde as rythm because the riffs from Doomsday Jesus, Stillborn, and Aint Life Grand are awesome (and Mustaine would be a good second because Holy wars has one of the best riffs ever imo).
Danny Carey because of his very complicated and intense drum parts in Tool. And clayppol because A) Primus Sucks and B) he is one of the best and most original bassists. If i was making a death metal band thogh it would look like this

Vocals: Chris Barnes (Cannibal Corpse) & Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir)
Guitar (lead): Trey Azagthoth (Morbid Angel)
Guitar (Rythm): Jack Owen (Cannibal Corpse)
Drums: Hellhamer (Mayhem)
Bass: Tom Araya (Slayer)

Vocals:Covers both ends of extreme metal singing (growl and scream)
Guitar: Both are amazing at riffs and solos but i prefer Jack Owens riffs
Drums: Hellhammer roolz
Bass: I love the bass lines from every slayer song

01-23-2005, 02:41 PM
Vocals- Kurt Cobain
Lead Guitar- Slash
Rhythm Guitar- Jimi Hendrix
Bass- Flea
Drums- Jon Bonham

that is the ultimate band:finger:

01-23-2005, 04:24 PM

Vocals-Kurt Cobain
Bass and Vocals-Lemmy Kilmeister
Guitar-Zakk Wylde
2nd Guitar-Dimebag Darrell
Drums-Dave Grohl
3rd Guitar(ah what the hell)-Randy Rhoads

I realize that having musicians from all these different genres may cause the band to sound like crap but who cares.

01-23-2005, 08:53 PM
james hetfield (metallica) - vocals/rhythm guitar
tom araya (slayer) - bass/vocals

This is as close as i can find in real life to a dream band and the best part of it is that it's w/o vocals. With artists like those guys, vocals sometimes would just get in the way.

now for a made-up band:
lead guitar-jimmy page
2nd lead guitar (they'd trade solos)-john petrucci
drums-neil peart
bass-john entwistle
vocals-stephen tyler

and for all the Flea responses, he is a great bassist and is musicaly inclined

and he's also hilarious - like the interviews and stuff, drop dead funny

like even off interviews, one time right before the chorus on Can't Stop live, he started screaming the lyrics in a really high muffled voice - and it made me drop dead laughing, but it also sounded good

and Les Claypool is amazing as well, he's up there on the list of bassists

Geezer - amazing

there, my worthless post
