Why do " Old school rockers" , " True metalheads" and Older metalheads call our music not metal?
I understand they call it shitty because its new to them and they didn't grew up with it.
But all these " true metalheads" are like " oh metalcore is soo gay and emo its totally not metal" Like Whats Emo about metalcore? Like I can see why they call Screamo like the "emo" label, But metalcore isn't emo music -__-
I love everything from classic rock, prog, black metal, Groove metal, Nu metal, Grunge, punk, Death metal, Melodic death metal, Ska, Acoustic, blues, Rock, hardrock, trash metal, Deathcore, and just about every rock or rock/metal related genre and some how Metalcore isn't Metal?

What are your thoughts on this?

these are some of what i consider some of the best metalcore bands.

Trivium
Shadows Fall
Darkest Hour
Unearth
A7x ( early stuff was metalcore)
Bullet for my Valentine
The agonist
As I lay dying
All that remains
In Flames ( depends on the album )
God Forbid
Eyes set to kill ( kinda screamo metalcore )
BRing me the horizon
asking Alexandria ( not the biggest fan but their good)
Kilswitch Engage

( not a big devil wears prada/ Attack Attack Sorry :P )

1989 the number another summer (get down)
Sound of the funky drummer
Music hittin' your heart cause I know you got sould
(Brothers and sisters hey)
Listen if you're missin' y'all
Swingin' while I'm singin'
Givin' whatcha gettin'
Knowin' what I know
While the Black bands sweatin'
And the rhythm rhymes rollin'
Got to give us what we want
Gotta give us what we need
Our freedom of speech is freedom or death
We got to fight the powers that be
Lemme hear you say
Fight the power

Chorus

As the rhythm designed to bounce
What counts is that the rhymes
Designed to fill your mind
Now that you've realized the prides arrived
We got to pump the stuff to make us tough
from the heart
It's a start, a work of art
To revolutionize make a change nothin's strange
People, people we are the same
No we're not the same
Cause we don't know the game
What we need is awareness, we can't get careless
You say what is this?
My beloved lets get down to business
Mental self defensive fitness
(Yo) bum rush the show
You gotta go for what you know
Make everybody see, in order to fight the powers that be
Lemme hear you say...
Fight the Power

Chorus

Elvis was a hero to most
But he never meant ---- to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was
Simple and plain
Mother---- him and John Wayne
Cause I'm Black and I'm proud
I'm ready and hyped plus I'm amped
Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps
Sample a look back you look and find
Nothing but rednecks for 400 years if you check
Don't worry be happy
Was a number one jam
Damn if I say it you can slap me right here
(Get it) lets get this party started right
Right on, c'mon
What we got to say
Power to the people no delay
To make everybody see
In order to fight the powers that be

(Fight the Power)

It is just a question It really doesn't bother me too much I just wanted to know what other people thought of this.

Public EnemyI love that track. I'm going to have that in my head for days now

On topic: for anyone actually wondering about this, it is a "mix" of hardcore and metal, but (usually) with much more bearing on the hardcore influences than the metal influences. Therefore, in most cases, it is placed here, rather than in the metal forum. However, metalcore has developed enough that it is a genre in it's own right as this forum and the metal forum are often arguing about where metalcore band threads should be made. We really should have a section for it.

And yeah, troll thread.

it just isnt the same when you play it or listen to it.. metal and rock is alive and has so much feeling to it but screaming and drop c stuff when you plays chords with one finger kinda just kills the fun. yea the core stuff still has some okay solos because of good musicians and all but its just the certain feeling you get from metal and rock

It shouldn't, you are concerning yourself with opinions of other people, which should be the least of your worries.

it's just the insult that people who don't like it prefer, same as most metal heads say that pop music is crap and gay (it is) but it isn't to the people who like it.

because most of them suck

p much

i'm not overly concerned with genres, but calling core metal just doesn't seem right. that doesn't mean all core is bad, just different.

i don't regret this thread's existence cause of the public enemy, thanks guys

Because most metalcore, especially nu-metalcore does not possess any of the ideals, or values inherent in the majority of extreme "true" metal bands.

And aesthetically it's a poppy low brow rip off of higher quality material (barring some exceptions of course).

And stomach-ulcer-inducingly-enough, your list is composed of the most generic and uninspired bands in the genre.

Eyes set to kill?
Really?
There are way better "core" bands than the mainstream ones you listed.

to be fair, your metalcore is 80% derived from melodic death metal so it really should be there, but they certainly don't want it

lol

Everything Blake said.

Also, traditional metalcore isn't metal. That's all I'm gonna say.

Try doing some research. This thread will not end well.
