I would like you to follow a few rules when posting new songs - to make it an easier job when I or someone else has to do this all again
I've got Bill's seal of approval so they are official, please follow them. It will make the future ALOT easier.

1) Please check that your suggestions ARE NOT on the list before you submit them
2) Suggestions are to be typed in Artist Names first, Song name second. Eg.
"Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven"
3) Please also notice how I have used capital letters on every word. While capitals arn't needed on words such as "of" "the" "and" "to" "so" etc, please use capitals on all other words.
4) If the band is "The Beatles" for example, Please post as "Beatles, The"

And thats it - Thanks very much folks!

Ditda: could you have a look in the suggestions for the what songs thread. This same list is in there, but with a legend after each song, for style, difficulty, etc. The list is incomplete, but if you could edit what's there into your list, it'd be good.

Why do you guys keep editing this thread. I know you guys are trying to put effort to help with the what songs threads but honestly, what do you guys think just listing a bunch of songs is gonna do? Like the day before there were rating after everysong. Why get rid of those. Listing all the songs you could learn is absolutly pointless unless theres gonna be something else. If your still workin on it im sorry for bein an ass but a big list isnt going to accomplish anything.

Neil Young Needle & the Damage Done (can't believe nobody mentioned this one)
Nelly Furtado I'm Like a Bird (the live version is awesome)
Nickelback Someday
No Doubt Don't Speak
Norah Jones Don't Know Why (piano song but still translates very well to guitar)
Puddle Of Mudd Blurry
Ryan Cabrera On The Way Down (this one's got some weird chords if you play it right, it's kind of tricky)
Shakira Underneath Your Clothes
Sheryl Crow Strong Enough
Sheryl Crow The First Cut is the Deepest
Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock Picture
Shinedown Burning Bright
Stray Cats Stray Cat Strut
Van Morrison Brown Eyed Girl
Velvet Revolver Fall To Pieces (believe it or not, it works really well on acoustic!)

Vertical Horizon Everything You Want
Vertical Horizon Finding Me

Eric Clapton's version of the Robert Johnson classic 'Walkin` Blues' from MTV Unplugged is pretty good. It's in drop D though.

if i were u and want a bluesly yet good rock song, i'd play planet caravan by black sabbath. there's an easy main riff but the solo is a little on the hard side, get it right and it will sound like a blues solo.

06-20-2005, 09:49 AM
Opeth- still day beneath the sun

That's definitely one of the best acoustic songs ever!!!!!!!:)

1st string : 7 9 7 9 7 9 5 7 9 5 7 5 7 5 7

then on the second string: 5 7 9 7 5 7

If anyone can recognize this song POST!

And of course the Ultimo Beginners Song that actually sounds great Jeux Interdits (Forbbiden Games) aka Romanza you can find this on about all the tab websites. After you have accomplished that take another 2 months to learn Classical Gas and then move onto Austrias (extremely hard)

MY OPINION (FLAME PROOF) : i think most of the songs you guys are posting are trash hahahaha songs that will be soon forgatten only do i catch a few people even mentioning Austrias, Classical Gas, or Malaguena. Sad day when someone posts anything about THRICE haha

Are you an idiot? Did you even read the thread? Because Classical Gas has only been said about Five Thousand times. And Yes, you are correct, this is the classical/ACOUSTIC forum. Just because a song isnt 30 years old or by a band you dont like (IE: Thrice) dosnt change the fact that it is played on the ACOUSTIC guitar you fucking dicktard.

07-02-2005, 08:41 AM
Creed's "Six Feet From the Edge" is actually "One Last Breath", and Thursday's "Standing" is actually "Standing on the Edge of Summer".

07-02-2005, 07:42 PM
Thrice is fukin awsome...... Yeh.....

07-05-2005, 08:06 AM
thrice rules =) especially stare at the sun I discovered this band of the SSX3 game.
btw understanding by evanescence is also great for acoustic guitar

07-16-2005, 10:41 PM
im lookin for a nice melodic acoustic song with some diversity and potentially a solo.. doesnt have to be completely acostic though, esp if its adaptable to an acoustic.. some examples of what im lookin for and already love to play are:

nothing else matters-metallica
patience-guns n roses
over the hills and far away-led zeppelin
stairway to heaven-led zeppelin
simple man-lynyrd skynyrd (not acoustic, but sounds great on one)

any help here would be appreciated... and if you have anything done originally on a 12-stg (of any kind) id like to hear about that too

07-20-2005, 11:56 PM
It's played on eletric, but it sounds good acoustic, tune 1 whole step downfor it though,it is alice in chains,Man in the Box.Theres a solo in it to.So I guess it will work for ya.

07-21-2005, 12:30 PM
sweet, im gonna go get the powertab now!

07-24-2005, 11:31 AM
So anyway I noticed there is no Sublime on the list!

Seeing as Bradley Nowell and friends is an acoustic album may I suggest

Pool Shark

Rivers of Babylon

Don't Push

Saw Red

Little District

Foolish Fool

the rest of the album

and lastly even thought it's not acoustic on the album it holds up well

As well, was written on an acoustic.

Wtf? You've clearly never heard the song because Marty does a short acoustic solo during the break in the middle. That's why I have the word "solo" in parentheses. Its fucking awesome and I play it all the time. I know damn well that the rest of the song is not acousitc. The Ozzy songs however, are both almost 100% acoustic, and both sound great.

Sister Hazel - Just remember

Ok, I'm looking for a song, preferably accoustic, with lyrics that basically convey the message "I'm sorry, I was a jerk". I googled and found like 1 song and it sucked, so I was wondering if anybody knew any...

It'll be one to sing and play, but I'm pretty damn good at singing while playing (Any metallica, namely nothing else matters, spoke in the wheel, etc. I can play while singing), so I'm not worried much about difficulty.

08-20-2005, 12:41 PM
as if no ones mentioned

08-28-2005, 09:04 PM
ah right, i just labeled that as an interlude. yeah, its a great little bit, but i like the one on trust more, its not as fast but it is more intracate and has two guitars going.

08-29-2005, 11:11 PM
More great acoustic megadeth songs: Time- the beginning, Absolution, She-wolf instrumental (from cryptic sounds)

08-31-2005, 10:45 AM
kinda butchered the dandy warhols name...

... they did the O.C. and the Veronica Mars' theme song!

09-05-2005, 11:22 AM
My mom is opening a coffee shop in about a month and she wants me to play at the opening. Acoustic, instrumental. Im working on A song for life and Song for George by Eric Johnson. I can also do Burning Down the Mountain by Steve Vai. What other songs might be good? Im too great at fingerpicking, but feel free to give me a challenge.

There's an AOL session video of Queens of the Stone Age doing an acoustic No one Knows which is very cool. I find that song more fun to play acoustic than electric.

09-11-2005, 02:34 PM

i'm about to start learning my cousin on how to play the guitar, what would be some easy beginner songs to teach him?

i cant remember what i learned back then

I say teach him Tribute by Tenacious D.

The intro would introduce him to hammers and pulls and the rest of the song is just chords.

10-02-2005, 03:11 PM
the first song i learned was You and Me: Lifehouse very easy

10-13-2005, 01:55 PM
have none of you people heard californication by the chilis', it has a really cool and easy accoustic solo and the main riff coldn't really be classed as hard

10-13-2005, 02:17 PM
oh and if want another good accoustic song, iggy pop - the passenger is great fun

but it may be too easy for someone wanting a challenge

10-16-2005, 09:38 PM
i'd like a suggestion of something with an aggressive rhythym.... i'm in a stagnant period i'd like to get out of (guitar-wise)

10-17-2005, 03:18 PM
while my guitar gently weeps sounds great.

10-22-2005, 03:19 PM
Last time I checked, Technical Difficulties by Racer X wasn't acoustic. I listened to it yesterday, and heard a different version, and both are definitely 100% electric shredding.

10-22-2005, 03:43 PM
Creed - Lullaby

So awesome....

10-23-2005, 11:35 AM
what do we have on here that uses a slide?

10-23-2005, 04:08 PM
Louisiana Swamp Swank (Steve Vai) uses a lot of slide.

10-29-2005, 06:03 AM
yeah but that is uber hard.

10-30-2005, 10:29 AM
not so bad if you ask me, it just takes some gettin used to with the slide

11-07-2005, 11:32 AM
could someone tell me a good acoustic fingerpicking song i can learn, i pretty much just started fingerpicking so nothing rediculously hard

11-07-2005, 10:37 PM
how about stairway to heaven?

11-10-2005, 05:29 PM
how about stairway to heaven?
too easy and know it

if this helps, i tried dust in the wind and i can do that if that helps to decide skill level

11-10-2005, 11:08 PM
well, i don't know how easy this will be for you because im not familiar with dust in the wind, but try doing "Crazy On You" by Heart

the intro is a lovely bit of finger picking.

11-30-2005, 02:42 PM
José González - Heartbeats
Nick Drake - Which Will
Nick Drake - Road

Yup, it has indeed been mentioned. I doubt it's going to be updated now though... OP hasn't edited for nearly a year.

My contributions:

Davey Graham - Anji(/Angie/Anjie/Angi/Anjee/Whatever)
Great fingerpicking song, kinda tricky, sounds fantastic. As I understand it, this song was the difference between mediocre and good guitarists in the 60s. Find a recording or use guitar pro to get the timing. P.S. Don't get this cofused with the Rolling Stones' Angie, that's a completely different song. P.P.S. This one was changed and covered by Bert Jansch, then Simon and Garfunkel.
Regular Tab (
Guitar Pro (

Velvet Underground - Heroin
Very simple, yet very dramatic and powerful. Easy, easy song that sounds good.
Heroin (

Edit: Ooh, started a new page. That's considered good luck in some primitive tribes!
