When you thing of Christianity do you think of dingy churches and organs played by the elderly? Well.....

Not all elderly people are nimble enough to play the organ.

In many people?s minds the idea of Christianity and Rock music being fused is a crazy thought. Indeed in many Christians mind this seems somewhat Unorthodox.
However, whether you like it or not there is a Christian Rock Scene out there and we will attempt to give you a brief history and evolution of the genre to date.

The first ever Rock band who openly admitted their faith were lead by Larry Norman (My old head teacher?s hero) who played in during the 1950s. Apparently he claimed that God had invented Rock ?n? Roll and that the devil had stolen it and called Christians to ?take back rock music for Jesus? sake? Whether this is the case or not, Larry was the true God Father of the genre. If you want visit his website to find out more

Since then Christian rock has become an effective way for the Church to publicise the Gospel to the youth of today. New bands such as ?The Hype?, now known as U2, made it big and brought a fresh outlook to scene. Other bands such as Delirious, lead by Martin Smith, started up in the UK in Southampton during the ?Cutting Edge? events and have now played in front of the pope and crowds of 100?s of thousands.

Today, a new band, starting up at the same Church as Delirious is trying to get their name out there. ForeverFree comprises of 5 individuals who have the same ideals as the great bands that have gone before them into the world:

1) To praise God- the most important thing is glorifying the name of God
2) Publicising the Gospel- bringing the word of God to people who would otherwise never hear it
3) Causing people to think- about there life and how they can change to be a better person, challenge their views and getting people out of their comfort zones.

If you wish to learn more about the Christian Rock scene or just about the band involved please email me at Furthermore please visit ForeverFree?s website and discover what we are all about.

I'm also in a Christian rock band, not a worship band, but a band who play amazing music and whose songs have a Christian basis, but arent all going 'i love you Jesus, because you are so good'

that would get boring after a while...unless we had amazing guitar solos...which we do...yeah...

There is plenty of good ones out there. How about p.o.d., demon hunter, as i lay dying, and head from korn is putting out some pretty good stuff. There are good Christian bands in many genres including rock, metal, numetal.
All of those bands might i add sing about alot more than one subject.

This is basically an advertisement for your band! It's like an documentary that turns into an infomercial or something!

the use of my band was only to further illustrate the point of the article not to advertise. as you can see i explain all of our motives as a band and the possible motives the christian rock genre has as a whole. Please read the article as an informative piece not advertising as that was not how it as meant to be portrayed.
