it appears i've written an epic again.
it was originally only the first part,
but then i decided to add on to it
because i'm home sick today
and have nothing better to do.
next thing i know, it's 9 minutes long.

it starts off heavier at the beginning,
then goes into a clean interlude,
then goes into emotional chords & riffs
and a really long buildup and stuff,
then goes back into a riff from the beginning.
there are no choruses, and very few repeated parts.

so enjoy (or not).
i don't have lyrics yet
because i don't write stuff this long :p:

maybe i'll write them later.

Wowxorz.

The main part of the first movement (the intro, bars 1-20) were really amazing. After that... the dissonance was overused, it seemed.

Loved everything about the second movement. Mezmerizing.

The third movement was GREAT until the last like.. three bars when it sounded like the midi wanted to rape a guitar...

The first movement reprised was good.

All I can say is you really like your dissonance... and should maybe use it a little less excessively.

Oh Kyle, how I love your epics. That was awesome.

Quite a nice piece, your style has matured alot since "Failure" (forgive me if that wasn't the title!). One of the biggest indicators is the absence of a huge guitar solo like I've come to expect from 'epic' pieces on UG. Trust, me, it wasn't missed. Stuff did repeat alot, so it could've been much shorter, but what you had was definitely cohesive and nice. Drums would add alot to it, methinks. None of the dissonance was really flat out annoying, you're using it well. Cool song, cool title.

To tell you the truth some parts were out of key and it did not mix that well. Hey At least I dont reply everytime someone posts in my thread. :peace:

edit and also no one has commented on two pieces I put out. Thats only reason I did it.

well no he didn't say i used dissonance badly,
he said that parts were out of key,
as if he thought they were SUPPOSED to be consonant.

To tell you the truth some parts were out of key and it did not mix that well.......

I was actully more on about that quote...which or less says it hurt his ears

Grovermans

first of all, that's not dissonant.
second of all, that's not even close
to the style of music i'm going for.
if you listen to a lot of hardcore stuff,
most of it uses a lot of dissonance.
that's the kinda of thing i'm going for.

????? are you bloody key deaf??? it desends Bb, G#, G, F#, F at one point...if that doesn;t class as dissonance in a desending use of flat notes and 3rds based on the guitar then i might as well piss on your song with this "hardcore" music of yours, if it features so much of it you dont have a "tune" just noise.....

also it doesn't matter if its ur style of music, its still applys the same theory

Grovermans
11-04-2005, 09:01 PM
it's not dissonant.

it's using notes that
aren't in the key,
but the notes don't clash.
they're still consonant.

Egrodyne

I think your find the Bb7/G# chord features a nice bit of dissonace....

Grovermans

none of it really sounded dissonant to me.

it's probably because i'm used
to hearing more... dissonant dissonance.

Well I don't listen to any hardcore bands except BTBAM (kickass band btw) and this is nowhere near as dissonant and random as them. Although you havent pulled it off quite liek them but then again this is midi. I liked it and had no problem wiht dissonance.

Grovermans
11-05-2005, 12:34 AM
BTBAM is awesome haha.

yeah, i mean, i don't use
completely random stuff
like grindcore and stuff,
so my dissonance is
actually rather mild.

i think you could probly split that into 2 different songs. i liked most of the riffs, just too long

i loved it, except for the part with the full Em and the bar chords.. but it was probably because of the midi. i'd love to hear this recorded Kyle :)

Grovermans
11-05-2005, 06:19 PM
i got rid of a bunch of the dissonance & stuff :)

11-05-2005, 08:34 PM
wow..that was freaking awesome. How long did that take you? I'm new with powertab, so I'm curious. It's sweet. You should record it with guitar...because then it'd be even sweeter.

Grovermans
11-05-2005, 08:40 PM
haha i wrote the first movement in
very little time a few nights ago
then added the rest yesterday
while i was home sick in about
two hours or something like that.

Does power tab always sound like that, kinda techno ish? I don't know much about it you see. How do you use the program, do you have to play guitar into it or do you just make the sounds via the pc?

Dashboard89
11-06-2005, 12:22 PM
you just type in the numbers for the tablature...and you can change the guitar sounds, but they aren't very good, except the piano...its actually close to sounding like a piano.

Grovermans
11-06-2005, 01:12 PM
it's made with MIDI.
computer generated sounds.
that's why it sounds like a video game.

I'm jealous.

I like ada second movement much.

ah right, I had a demo ages ago, but I never used it.

Grovermans
11-06-2005, 03:17 PM
it's a free program...
how could you have
a demo for something
that is completely free?

Well instead of joining in on this little ego clash, I'll Highlight what I liked.

Movement 2.

I've seen a lot of your peices, and I've always preffered the softer stuff as opposed to the dissonant 'hardcore'

I will say that you know how to harmonize guitars, but you really overuse that technique so it loses a lot of its flair.

Overall though, pretty solid piece.

i dunno, but it only lasted 30 days then it dissapeared.

well that's weird...

you should get the actual thing.
it's a really useful tool :)

I loved the second movement, it was a nice change. And the start of the third is awesome. I pat you on the back just for sitting at your computer long enough to write that much. Nicely done. Would work awesome with vocals

thanks. I don't actually hate you anymore which is good. You've kind of grown on me.
