all right
im teaching my friend how to play guitar starting thursday, and was thinking about approaching at first with chords, some starter scales, and overall things like some easy slides, single note songs, things like that,
but i cant make up my mind over which song has some easy chords with a good variety of them, im thinking about behind blue eyes
any suggestions

wow... lots of songs to choose from. I'm guessing you don't just want to teach him power chords only. The first song I learned was House of the Rising Sun which is nice. Let it Be might be a bit hard if he's just starting but it has a good amount of chords as well.
Teach him the minor penatonic if you can... completely forgot about that. I had so much fun with that scale :P. Try to slip in a major scale. And for single note songs, there's always seven nation army :). If you do end up teaching power chords, smells like teen spirit, smoke on the water etc.

I always used Hey Joe as it also demonstrates the Circle of Fifths. It was my trojan horse song.

Depends on their interests, my first song was If you want blood(you've got it) by AC/DC and Highway to Hell was my 2nd but if Jet had been around i imagine i also would have learned Cold Hard Bitch or Are You Gona Be my girl. If they are into the beatles there are many easy beatles songs, same w/ AC/DC.

Wild Thing is a good one. Brown Eyed Girl also works well.
