Hi, i jsut started playing guitar for about 3 months. Im really into classic rock and stuff.... but anyways. So i have a really good teacher that has been playing for about 25 years, and hes really cool. But I am just wondering why Ive been off to such a slow start. He taught me stairway, but not the solo. He has not taught me any solos yet, and has only taught me 4 scales. I have heard that other kids did the stairway solo at 2 months. BTW, I'm pretty good at sight reading cuz i used to play piano.
Any advice would help thank you!

if you do learn it on your own, do it from the notes, not the tabs, well, do it from the tabs if you wanna be just an everyday green day guitarist...

just ask him too teach you, and if he won't don't think you will never succeed at guitar because of it. Just because you can't play the stairway solo after 4 months doesn't meen your life is ruined. By the way GuitarNOOB, what part of washington are you in?

That's debateable. There are many places to play a note on fretboard instruments, therefore, having music arranged in the proper form to finger it makes it played more professionally. As long as you know how to read sheet music, I don't see any advantages in learning the Staiway sheet music.

Man, ive been playing for about a year and a half, and Im no way ready for the stairway solo. I also doubt that alot of those people that said they could do it after 2 months are yanking your crank.
