Write your own riffs smart one.

P.S. You have to be a mod to make rules...

This is where you write riffs not ask for one.

I'll lend you one I used for a video game that my Programming class is developing. I don't mind if you use it, since it's such a simple chord progression. Besides, you probably won't even get the same rhythm as I used.

E|-------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------|
G|o-----------------------------o|
D|o-----------------------------o|
A|--2---2-2---5--5---7--7-7-7-7--|
D|-------------------------------|
p.m.-----------------------------|

E|-------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------|
G|o-5---------7------9--9-9-9-9-o|
D|o-5---------7------9--9-9-9-9-o|
A|--2---x-x---5--x---7--7-7-7-7--|
D|-------------------------------|

E|-------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------|
G|o-5---5-5---7--7---9--9-9-9-9-o|
D|o-5---5-5---7--7---9--9-9-9-9-o|
A|--2---2-2---5--5---7--7-7-7-7--|
D|-------------------------------|

Fill:
E|-------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------|
G|--5---5-5---7--7---------------|
D|--5---5-5---7--7---7--7-7-7-7--|
A|--2---2-2---5--5---7--7-7-7-7--|
D|-------------------7--7-7-7-7--|

Add in some solo parts -- I played some octave chords an octave up... like so... (since I'm bad at explaining this)

G|-16--
D|-x--
A|-14--

...and just match the other rhythm. I also had a solo, but no way am I going to tab that out to hand out... not that it was that good or anything.. it actually sucked... but it was an improvised solo on the spot, something I'm proud of, and not giving away. And I'm too lazy to tab it XD

p.s. lots of edits as I spot errors in my tab :p:

Just use some power chords all around the neck. All you really need are four power chords in constant succession. But not too much, that's just annoying!

Uh no.
You need to stay in key, usually, with a basic rhythm, and hopefully at least a somewhat intresting progression. You dont wanna end up like Green Day.

take four chords, something like this , D, F, C , G and finger pik the power chords,
E|--------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------7------------------------------5---------------|
D|-----7----7---------3-------------5------5---------5-|
A|--5---------------3----3--------3----------------5----5|
E|---------------1--------------------------------3-------|
then put in a fill, or some lead guitar

If i wasnt so damn lazy and hated cliche`s, id sig that. That just made my day.

**** Greenday, and **** greendays "chord progression"

Omg hahahaha i just noticed that even you acknowledged they always use the same one, unless they happen to be copping it from old classic rock songs, a la 25 or 6 to 4.

**** Greenday, in the anus, with a large wooden spatula.

look at the tabs and tell me that, brainstew, holiday, wake me up when september ends, she, J.A.R., F.O.D, and Longview, all have the same progression!!! plus, look up the facts, greenday has one of the biggest fan bases out their, and they've been one of few recent bands that have lasted 17 years!!

dustklose, i'm a green day fan too, but it's true, alotta their music uses the EXACT same chord progressions. the vast majority of their music is based on 4ths and 5ths, and they rarely ever break that pattern. some of the songs u mentioned though break that pattern, but for the most part, it's power chords up a 4th from the hometone or up a 5th.
don't get me wrong bro, green day kicks major ass.
n e way, to punc_roc, just learn some scales and play around with them. from them u can get your hooks, solos, chords, riffs, everything u need to have u covered in bras and panties on stage.

Same. I like Green Day even though they are lazy. Listen to Pink Floyd!
