I only have MP3s of his session on Today FM (Cannonball (with Lisa Hannigan singing), The Unplayed Piano and his cover of Creep). I might get O for Christmas.

At The Frames gig I was at last month, he made a little special apperance. The crowd went mental when he came on, but I was left wondering who was this oddly dressed and bearded man who played songs that the whole crowd sang along to. He was amazing. Afterwards I heard people saying "OMGSZERZ DAMIEN RICE", I realised then who he was :D

So, Damien Rice. Yay or Nay? I say Yay.

Oh man definitely, definitely, definitely get O. It's such a fantastic album, absolutely beautiful from start to finish. Amie is my favourite track right now. I've not listened to it in a while, but I put it on a few weeks back and it jsut blew me away like that was the first time I had ever heard it. The guy is absolutely beautiful (voice-wise). Seriously fantastic album :D

And I hear he's got a new one out early next year? Is this true? I hope so :)

You can get the album cheap now- I saw it for 5 somewhere. I've got it but don't listen to it a lot. Cannonball is a great song though.

So it's an almost 'yay' from me.

12-10-2005, 08:39 AM
YAY! O's a great album, Amie especially. And Volcano. And Cannonball. And, well you get the idea.

12-10-2005, 08:47 AM
I think Alice said it best with....

Oh man definitely, definitely, definitely get O.

It is a truly great album.
I still think Lisa should do a solo album though, she's amazing.

12-10-2005, 09:53 AM
Amie is my favourite track right now. :)

Wowow Amie is so my favourite as well :D (depending on the mood - some days it's Older Chests)

But yeah man definitely get O, it's amazing. :)

Oh man definitely, definitely, definitely get O.

I agree with Alice. Can't help you on whether there is a new album out though.

O is my favourite album of this millenium, (which is only 6 years, but so what)

12-11-2005, 03:49 PM
Yay! It's a great album.
Delicate is my fave song.

12-11-2005, 06:15 PM
i'm asking for O for christmas :)

boring passe

12-12-2005, 06:44 PM
^You were probably distracted when you were listening. You need a quiet environment to listen to Damo, otherwise you can't properly appreciate it's beauty. It's just one of those things.

My friend performed Delicate and the Blowers Daughter. He was amazing, he equalled Damo I reckon, he's off to Berklee Music College after he finishes doing some other stuff he has to get out of the way.

boring passe

lol, who says "passe" in relation to an artist? Music isn't a fashion y'know, he's hardly out-dated. Well it can be a fashion, but God help those who buy music based on the trends.

Yay from me. Simple, but effective.

Do I like Damien Rice?

'O' yeah

Jokes aside, buy the album...and buy his bside one too.

"O" is awesome. I can't wait for his next album. I copped a mp3 of "Lonely Soldier" from eskimofriends.com (I think) That is my favorite from him right now.

12-15-2005, 08:43 AM
YAY! Get it dude, Damien Rice is lyrically incredible. It's a great cd.

12-15-2005, 11:12 AM

I always found O quite uplifting, different effects on different people I suppose.

12-15-2005, 03:37 PM
why dont you have it already?....its been out nearly a year!!! gogogogo

12-15-2005, 04:57 PM
Its been out for way longer than that.

12-15-2005, 05:02 PM
^ Yeah, it's been at least two because I distinctly remember saying last Christmas that my mum had it for the Christmas before (f*ck knows how, she's usually quite a way behind).

12-15-2005, 05:34 PM
It's been in the charts for about three years now I think... maybe not so long.

Can't say I've ever listened to him anyway... I'll get around to it sometime

12-15-2005, 05:35 PM
I just checked O.

12-16-2005, 04:13 AM
Borrowed it from the library. Haven't listened much yet only the first 5 songs. They sounded boring so I put on something better to listen too. Maybe I'll give it time.

12-17-2005, 01:35 AM
I think he is a true artist and o is such a great album. I like the transitions from one song to another. It's just so well done. I must see his live performance!

12-17-2005, 08:13 AM
^To make you want to see him live even more (hopefully) there's a video on
www.fabchannel.com which is absolutely friggen amazing.

12-17-2005, 11:49 AM
I'm on the fence with 'O'...i dunno...it's good and emotional but it kinda drones a little..i dunno...

12-19-2005, 03:53 PM
I quite like Damien Rice, but only in small doses.

12-19-2005, 07:02 PM
Nah. I got very tired of Cannonball. I see him as more James Blunt than Bob Dylan XD.

12-21-2005, 08:54 AM
Damien Rice rocks!:)

12-21-2005, 10:23 AM
get the b-side too......even if you only get it for the professor..its worth it

Yes, The Professor is an incredible song. I really hope he puts out something new sometime soon.

Damien Rice is brilliant.

I'm not really in to the singer/songwriter stuff normally, as I find it quite boring, but there is just something about 'O' that makes you sit there and think 'wow'.

You need to just sit and listen to it to understand it's greatness, just as with 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley, and even 'Dark Side Of The Moon' by Pink Floyd.

12-26-2005, 01:47 PM
Yeah, I agree with everyone here.
Damien Rice is one of my favorite guitarist.
Go buy his album !!!!

09-18-2006, 06:33 PM
This is an old thread, but I really didn't see the need to make a new one about him just to say this...

According to play.com the new album ('9') will be released on November 6th.

09-19-2006, 07:45 PM
I put on "O" every once in awhile to just chill out and clear my head. He's quite talented as well.

09-20-2006, 12:10 PM
I cannot wait for the new album. :D

09-20-2006, 12:12 PM

Not that important, but the song titles for the new album don't look as good as the ones on 'O' :D

Probablty a little more important, I heard a really short clip of the new song and it sounded quite good, although rather melancholy.
