So, summary:

Bright Eyes.
The Spill Canvas.
Brand New
TBS.
Early November.
FFAF.

The acoustic songs by those artists.

I can't be bothered to type out my favourites.

There are others but I'm in an extremely lazy mood.

Ever So Sweet- Early November (in fact the whole acoustic ep is good)
The Places We've Come to Fear the Most- Dashboard Confessional
Juneau [acoustic]- Funeral
Most spill canvas is acousticalradcore, but it gets annoying after too much
The kind of like spitting self titled ep is sex, but qutie hard to get into....

first day of my life by conor is probably on balance my fave song of all time

oh of course theres the typical "one acoustic song on an otherwise album that is relativley popular" response, but you can read above for that....new american classic is a prime example xD

alex15kim

ummm...
checked this thread to find some good songs to add to my repertoire
and even tho i found some great songs & bands (feeling left out, zolof, enigk)

...apparently i'd already heard all the rest of the songs that were posted.
sadly enuff.

i'm not sure whether it's good or bad. ummm...

either there needs to be more acoustic music out there, or i've REALLY gotta start writing my own shit.

oh.
and nobody mentioned anything by "And Then I Turned Seven" google them.
DL the song "I Miss You (acoustic)" ... or mostly anything else for that matter by ATITS

indierockcanada
01-19-2007, 03:52 AM
oh. and "a walk through hell" by Say Anything, or anything off of Say Anything's bedroom demos.

don't know 'em? you will. singles are on National radio now (north america at least)

so basically, to stop people from REPEATING THE SAME BANDS:

-Dashboard Confessional (Chris Carraba had better stick to his acoustic stuff, the new
album is more band-centered, but the acoustic stuff is classic!)
-Death Cab 4 Cutie (nobody has mentioned Postal Service? well... wtv not rly acoustic)
-Bright Eyes (hundreds of songs, yes, conor is a genius)
-Brand New
-Coheed
-Dallas Green (beautiful voice. musical genius.****ed tuning)
-TBS (classic songs)
-Greenday
-Fall Out Boy (ffs, listen to their EARLY stuff. before they were popular and Pete became
a moron! nobody puts baby in the corner is ok, but Grand Theft Autumn
is brilliant)
- yellowcard (their acoustic stuff is killer)
- Spill Canvas (how can all of their songs NOT be great?!?!)
- i can make a mess like nobody's business
- the early november
- box car racer (anyone else hear the similarity to the final Blink CD?)
- Thrice
- Finch (acoustic stuff of course... anyone know why they broke up btw?)
- Daphne Loves Derby
- Something Corporate (if u like piano. omfg u will orgazm)
- acoustic foo fighters (yessssss)
- emo side project
- jeremy enigk

PS kudos to stevenlogan for mentioning dylan and clapton
negative kudos to FatKidsOnMopeds</3 for making fun of Cruxifier

PPS Cruxifier: ANYTHING THAT DEALS WITH EMOTION IS EMO. more like sadness or opening up and sharing feelings and emotions tho. so you're right.
i say get rid of the black and razors. bring back the love and peace. yay

Syn3st3rR0ck3r,

it says you are "the happy emo" ?

an "emo kid" (not the quotations)

is a person who identifies with the emocore music genre and is usually involved in that someway.

"emo kids" are not depressed little ten-yr olds, they are people who show off their EMOTIONS in a flagrant or flambouyant(sp?) way.

so happiness is only one of those emotions.

you are the product of exploition of music by the mainstream.

i say Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot, or The Night Will Go As Follows
by Brand New and The Spill Canvas, respecively.

The Scene Aesthetic. Anything by them, but I've always loved "Beauty in the Breakdown."
Ben Gibbard's version of "St. Swithin's Day." It's beautiful.
"A Day Late"(Acoustic) by Anberlin. I also like the acoustic version of "Autobahn."
Anything by Secondhand Serenade is sex.
"Brightest" by Copeland.
Daphne Loves Derby, "Hopeless Love" is my favorite.
I'm definitley in love with Dave Meillo's "Sam's Song" and "Knights of the Island Counter." They're actually on his purevolume.
Annnnything by Rookie of the Year is amazing. Favorites; "Consider This Summer", (short but) "Daytona In Flames" and "Set The Sails, Red Beret" (though it's not all acoustic.)
"Take Our Cars Now!" by Saves the Day.
Love "Sunday Drive" by The Early November.
ohh, I Can Make A Mess... : "Untitled 12", "The Kindler Burns", "Salvy" and "Timshel."
"Always Move Fast" by Lydia.
Like The Pilot? "Five Years in the Making" is a good one. ;D
oh, Keep in Touch, "Cellar Door" is my favorite.
Anything by Dallas Green is love. Especially "Casey's Song."
I'm in love with StatePark. "Pink and Black" and "Airplanes on Fire" are amazing.

Its very easy to play 23 by Jimmy Eat World with just an acoustic. Same goes for Hear You Me. Basically a bunch of JEW songs.

Obviously Bright Eyes... If Winter Ends, Something Vague, Motion Sickness, etc.

Neutral Milk Hotel, some songs don't have extra instruments

Your Guardian Angel (The Acoustic Song) by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is brilliant.

It's really funny how when the thread began (in 2005) all emotional songs were tagged emo, just like they should. Now people die to avoid referring to the artists they like as emo. Oh well.

Few things worse than people who deny what they listen to and who they are.

True, the whole point of music itself is to cause emotion to the listener. Still, I'm talking about a "different" kind of emotion. I can't really explain, but I think we all know what I mean. I mean, there's already plenty of threads on this.

By the way, are there any great pop punk/emo 2009 acoustic songs/bands?

Not that I know of although Set Your Goals has a short acoustic instrumental called Arrival Notes on their new album

Dashboard Confessional-Most Anything. like all their songs.
John Mayer - Comfortable, Neon, Stop This Train, etc. etc.
Jason Mraz - Anything.
All Time Low - Remembering Sunday

EDIT: just realized that 2 of those aren't pop punk/emo at all. Sorry. Still GREAT acoustic stuff though.

What Went Wrong - Blink-182
Good Riddance - Green Day
Everlong (Acoustic) - Foo Fighters

Now, before you say "d00d f00d fytrz arnt PPE!!!1!elevn!!!," look up the lyrics, let them absorb into your head, and then look up the spoken bridge lyrics. Then let those sink in, and then go listen to the acoustic version.

Most of Secondhand Serenade is acoustic. Songs like Half Alive are really easy to play and not too hard to sing :)

If you need it let me know I could get it for ya. It's the song that doesn't exist unless you're gonna buy the album.
