Really beautiful music. Ex members from the band "Anatomy of a Ghost". The singer and someone else, I don't know who. Anyway, if you haven't heard them, check out the song, 'Elephants'.

Personally, i don't like the new band Anatomy has formed.
It is a huge leap from thier old melodic guitar parts, and vocals.
Anatomy is one of my favorite bands, when i heard they broke up i was dissapointed, but then excited to hear that they were going to release a new cd. Then dissapointed again to hear that it is this, "Portugal, the man".
But i guess everyone has different taste in music, i sure wish that old anatomy would come back, though.

I figured out how to play the intro to Elephants. I'm not too good at figuring out chords though, so i don't know if i want to figure out the rest or just put the intro up..

If you want me to give you the intro so you can figure out the rest, get in touch with me somehow. (IM [set up x set up], myspace [myspace.com/almostjesus], or whatever.

Ehh, I don't really like the one guitarist stuff he makes up and he's kind of awkward, but I like Sean alot(who was from Cease Upon The Capitol). Maybe next fall when some of my other musician friends are up here we can start something with Sean because I think the other guitarist is going to France for that semester so who knows.

I saw their bulletin on Myspace and decided to give it a listen.

I made it about four tracks in and decided I'm getting this album ASAP. :p:

Great album. Definitely a good follow-up to "Church Mouth", especially considering it's only been about a year. :D

Sorry for the double post, but I didn't want to edit.

Just got back from seeing them. AMAZING show all around. Not only was Wintersleep and Earl Greyhound amazing, but Portugal. The Man were simply stunning, as well.

Amazing set, amazing atmosphere, amazing feeling, etc. Words cannot describe how elated I am right now.

I also got to meet the band and get all of their autographs on the stickers I got and the vinyl LP of Waiter: "You Vultures!" I bought while I was there.

I even had an amazing, lenghty convo with Garrett, the touring drummer. He knows all of the dudes from Minus the Bear, as well. He said he basically grew with those guys. I damn near pissed myself. :haha

He also had some great stories about Brian Cook (bassist of These Arms are Snakes) and his boyfriend, and just music in general. Great guy.

ANYWAY. Yeah. Amazing night. :p:

Did they play mostly stuff from Censored Colors, or an even balance from all 4 releases?

fallenangel20
10-26-2008, 10:54 AM
As far as I could tell, they balanced it pretty well. I only remember day before yesterday that they were coming and went in totally unprepared.

But, like I said, they balanced it out, as far as I could tell. They played about three from Church Mouth, a few from Vultures, and some songs I didn't recognize, which were probably new songs since I haven't heard the entire album yet. :p:

GARGH!!!!

I need the Satanic Satanists..... :(

I hope to see them live again this year. I went last October to see them at a local venue, and it was an absolutely stunning show.

I stayed after and had a good chat with most of the band and their merch guy. I mostly talked to their touring drummer Garrett. He went to high school with, and is still great friends with all of Minus the Bear and Botch. o_O

I like Satanic Satanists now that I've given it a few listens. My only problem with it is that John played a really really cool riff during one of the songs, but it was leading into a guitar solo. I haven' heard the riff on there at all. I was hoping it would be there. :(

Just had to bump this thread up after seeing them the other night in Sheffield at an absolutely tiny venue. They played a good show, though it could've done with being a bit longer.

I got to talk to John and the keyboardist (who's name escapes me right now) at the bar afterwards. We talked a bit about the new album they've recorded, and apparently it's a big change of direction from The Satanic Satanist, with lots of "samples and stuff". John said that a lot of the people they've had listen to the album have been weirded out by it. He also said that they've been talking to a major label, though he's not supposed to have told me which one.

Anyway, don't know if anyone's really interested, but I just thought I'd share that.

I loved their first cd, then listened to "its complicated being a wizard" and hated it and kinda wrote them off after that. This last year I went back and took a look at what they have been doing lately and damn, I should have never stopped listening to them. Fantastic band, so if you've been turned off by its complicated being a wizard, just skip that album, that is not even close to a representation of the rest of their music at all.
