Has anyone ever heard of a band called Wolf Parade? I have taken a big liking in them. Their lyrics are written so well. Anyone else like them?

Ah yes, I like Wolf Parade very much. Their songs are very well composed indeed. Of course, Isaac Brock produced their record so, being the Modest Mouse fan I am, I was pretty much predetermined to like it. It sounds pretty similar to older Modest Mouse, actually.

I really like Modest Mouse to. And when I heard the Wolf Parade Sub-Pop single I thought they sound very much like Modest Mouse. (Mostly the vocals). I guess the producer had some influence on making it sound simular.

I listened to a couple songs...Nothing that would make me want to listen again...

...Not a big Modest Mouse fan either.

Wolf Parade's 'Apologies To Queen Mary' : Hands down the best album of 2005. If you haven't heard them they sound something like a mix between Fleetwood Mac & David Bowie. The first time I listened to it I found it oddly fascinating, very bizarre music. Often hard to catch the melodies. Now that I've listened to it probobly 50-60 times through, I find the melody overwhelmingly powerful. It took about 5 listens, but then I started to catch on. The structure of"I'll believe in anything" is unique and, err, tantalizing. This band gave me that warm 'found a new band that you absoulutely love' feeling.
Also I'm a huuuuge Mouse fan.

Derfinatly one of the top albums I've bought this year. Beaten only by The New Pornographers, I think. I Love it. Modern World and Dear Sons And Daughters Of Hungry Ghosts are my favourite songs.

Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts is gold. The vocals at the beginning make me laugh my ass off.

I do think it's the best album of '05 as well! I didn't knew that Isaac Brock produced their record, I find some similarities with modest mouse, but not that many. Dinner Bells and Fancy Claps just, just... make me pee my self.

easily my favorite indie band. the four track EP and their S/T record are both awsome.

I'm a huge fan of Apologies to the Queen Mary, one of the top three albums of the year in my opinion. I'll Believe in Anything is probably my favorite track of the year.

That video is crazy I saw in on Napster. The dude has 4 extra glowing and flashing heads stacked on him and he has a bad day at work then gets mugged but the heads find a find a place on billboards and statues WOW

I made a thread about them last year along with a review of their show with the Arcade Fire in Chicago. And, yeah, best rock album of 2005...I'm still listening to it every week.

I bought their album when it came out purely based on hype and "You Are a Runner and I Am My Fathers Son". I admire it a bit more now, but I was really disappointed when I got it.

I'm still not too big on the band.

sorry to bump an 8 month old thread (hey, it beats making a new one) but I have the oppurtunity to see these guys live next week here in Portland and I'm wondering if anyone here thinks that its worth it. I've listened and own the 'Apologies to Queen Mary' Album and think its pretty damn good. So basically, has anyone else seen them live? if you have how were they if you havent do you think they would be any good, I'm rather mixed as is.

^^^ I saw a couple videos of them live.....They're pretty good. When they released their tour dates i was so excited and pumped but then i found out the one they're playing at is 18+ i was pissed off cause im 17. You can prob. find SOME live stuff on youtube or googlevideo or something like that

ps.....wow i made this thread SO long ago.....but thankyou in using the search button instead of creating a new one
