01-16-2006, 06:28 PM
Dave Matthews all the way. They sound exactly the same in concert as on the CD if not better.

And also all the country singers are amazing and when I was a young one, I saw Alanis Morrisette and she was amazing although I fell asleep during it :D

O.A.R is awesome live and so is Guster.

And John Mayer. OK, that's the last one. I swear.

Dream Theater, Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Meshuggah, Between the Buried and Me. All flawless as far as I have seen (except sometimes James LaBrie for Dream Theater is a little weak, at least at Budokan). Between the Buried and Me should receive special mention for their vocalist's versatility. He never falters on any one of the many vocal styles that he uses in their songs.

I don't know why it's such a big deal that Green Day puts on a "good show," because anyone who plays music that ridiculously bland should be able and required to put on a huge extravagant show.

The Foo Fighters are bloody awsome live. I saw them when they came to Sydney in December. Dave ran out into the middle of the crowd and had a solo-off with Chris while he was in the crowd. It was awsome because when he ran out into the crowd he has security with him, and if anyone got too close to Dave, they got taken down by one of the security's elbows :golfclap: I wish there was a concert where they just had the security and no band :p:

The Breeders were amazing live, but that could've been because i was right at the front leaning on the stage, getting my head blasted off at the feet of Kim Deal...

Aussie Floyd show who i saw the other night were amazing too, they count in this right? It was just intense, a real mind blowing experience. Go to see when schtoned, i advise you, it'll knock your socks off.

ok any classic rock band is amazing live especially
the who
peter frampton
the guess who
the zombies
aerosmith
the animals
rolling stones
and of course the beatles, where would we be without the beatles

now the best nowdays are
i'd hate to say it but underoath is acutally amazing live, i hate them with a passion but i have to say that they're amazing..watch some vid's on youtube, the guitarist spins the guitar all the way around his body and does amazingly..although the keyboardist looks gay cause he does a constant headbang

then there's
RHCP!!!
foo fighters
collective soul...if you've ever seen these guys live it'll give you a ton of respect for them
the tragically hip..canadien classics
velvet revolver

for the guy who said green day...they're alright i guess but i wouldnt say they're a best, but they still kick ass in the punk rock department

now just for fun here's worst live:
3 days grace...horrible
billy talent...cant sing live at all..too much dancing
coldplay...too much dancing which kills his voice but that was back then, they might be different now, either way im not a fan of them (my dad bought my brother a vid of them in '03..i dunno why cause my bro isnt really that big of a fan either)
fall out boy..they deserve to be on every worst list lol

We are talking about live shows, and so far nowhere has anybody mentioned Killswitch Engage. I have been to a total of six concerts two of them Killswitch was not preforming. Every time I see them live it is an absolute blast. They are just a bunch of guys havin a good ol time up on stage. People talkin about gettin the crowd involved, this last show I saw them at in Pittsburgh, Howard did not sing a single lyric for End of Heartache. Trust me, they are the best. My opinon of couse, take it as you will.

RHCP, Muse, John Mayer of the modern rock.

I didn't have a chance to see him live, but i've seen countless video's of his live performances, Jimi Hendrix is probably my favorite of all time with his Improvisations and jams, you never hear the same song twice (kind of like what Frusciante does)... love him!

Oh, and old school chili peppers, in the early 80s, with Hillel Slovak on guitar, in the underground LA punk rock scene, were intense.

I saw them live for the first time last night, and they put on a really good show. Though it was also my first time in a pit, so that kind of helps to influence my opinion just a bit cause that was amazing haha.

I urge you all to watch this and pay particular attention to the last 4 minutes. All bands should aspire to play like its the last performance of their carreer, even if it isn't:

Please - thoughts? ;)

Wow that was insane.

I'll have to say Elvis Presley was the BEST live performer out of EVERYONE. Yes, many were good, but not as good as he was.

BLOODY FANTASTIC.
That show was the ****, and they were awesome. Loved it.
Very into the crowd, great performance. Then they came out and skanked with us later. I just chilled with the dude and talked for like half an hour after the show.
Rad? yeah I think so.

Damn I wish I saw them when I had the chance :(
I've seen the new GnR in Sheffield in 06 and they were great, but they walked off due to 'technical difficulties' twice, which kinda broke the momentum a bit. As did the 3 guitarists doing their solo pieces, which were OK but dragged on a bit.

I'd say the best I've seen live were Less Than Jake. I'd heard they were good live but they really blew me away.

2nd was probably Seb Bach. Saw him with Skid Row in 95 and supporting GnR. I know everyone seems to hate him, but he's an amazing frontman and a great singer.

Also I'll say The Living End. Never even heard of them when I saw them support LTJ and they really impressed me. Their albums are OK but they really kick ass live.

Less than Jake has the most amazing interactive live show I've ever seen. I saw them once in Baltimore and once in Pittsburgh and they were absolutley amazing. In Pittsburgh the light turned off on them during "Science of Selling Yourself Short" and when they wouldn't turn back on Chris said "**** it" and they played "Plastic Cup Politics" in the dark. All you saw were a bunch of shadows jumping around onstage. Not only LTJ, but both tikes i saw them were on the Shout It Loud tour, so i saw Reel Big Fish's and Streetlght Manifesto's flawless preformances as well. Those three were the best! Worst shows ever, 98 Degrees and Insync in 2000, or around their....i hate getting dragged to concerts with teenage girls.

RHCP in the past 10 years is quite possibly the worst live show in the history of ever. I love them to death, but still, they were not worth the arm and leg i spent.

Foo Fighters. Them or Haste the Day.

another band that i saw on youtube, the dragon force, they were incredible! listen to the song 'through fire and flames' and then watch the video on youtube and then watch it live...what really got me pissed off though is that through the entire song and even the solo, they just show the singer, the only times they show the guitarist is when he's playing a basic chord, and thats not often...in all i think they show the guitarists about...3-4 times? no recognition, i hate that, a band should be united as one and the singer should have the same amount of recognition as the rest of the band, they're all in it together, none of these group photo's with the singer at the front and not being able to see the bassist or drummer

I think the tightest live band I've seen is Tool. The sound is amazing.

The Who put on a great show...the first time I saw them, I remember noticing it was an "older" crowd, but once the show started there was a ton of energy both from the band & crowd.

Motley Crue put on the best show in terms of just being loud, entertaining, great visuals.

Velvet Revolver was excellent, just saw them last year with Alice in Chains, who were great too.
