Do you guys know what gauge jim root and mick thomson from slipknot use? They use some of the lowest tunings Ive ever heard of.

Not sure of the gauge but according to the back of my Ernie Balls, they're the make they use. Try 11's though, they should get you close.

EDIT: Damn you for getting there first! :peace:

i think that site is fairly updated i use to be a big knot fan not so much anymore but i still like jim and micks riffs, it has mick using his RG on there so it mustve been updated fairly recently since the last album was put out...but yeah thick strings for sure

Ernie Ball doesnt make the gauge he uses, you will just have to buy 2 packs and mix them.

^ not really you'd have to just buy em seperatly and it comes to about the same as a normal pack of strings, thats what i do (apart from i dont use Ernie Balls)

depending on the scale of your guitar, you can actually buy any strings you want, as long as theyre thick enough. like on a guitar with 25.5" scale id suggest a set of 13's for the drop b tuning.

Do you recommend .13s for everything? God damn :peace: :p:

But for Slipknot, I typically use Ernie Ball or D'Addario .12s
Not too loose, not too tight around the Drop B area.
