Here's a fun little riff I made up. It was inspired by the riffs of Muse's Plug In Baby and Led Zeppelin's Blackdog; in the same manner, this riff is sort of like a mini, simplified solo.

Play this at a consistant speed of approximately 6 nps, preferably palm-muted on an acoustic:

e|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--------2---------------0---------------2-3-2---2------------------|
A|--0-2-3---3-2-0-2---0-2---2-0---2---2-3-------3-----2-3-----3-2----|
E|------------------3-----------3---0---------------1-----1-0-----3--|

e|----------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------------0~------------------------------------------------|
D|--------2---2----3-2-0~-0---------------------------------------|
A|--0-2-3---3---------------3-2~-0-2---2---2-3-2---2-3-----3-2----|
E|-----------------------------------3---0-------1-----1-0-----3--|

or, try the harmonized riff:

e|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------9----------------7----------------9-10-9----9--------------------|
D|-7-9-10---10-9-7-9-5-7-9---9-7-5-9---9-10--------10-----9-10-----10-9----|
A|-----------------------------------7------------------8------8-7------10-|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e|----------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------------------------------------------------------------------|
G|--------9---9-12~-10-9-7~-7-------------------------------------------|
D|-7-9-10---10----------------10-9~-7-9-5-9---9-10-9---9-10-----10-9----|
A|------------------------------------------7--------8------8-7------10-|
E|----------------------------------------------------------------------|

Let me know what you think :)

It's pretty cool, I suppose. It was kind of whacky, but it wasn't bad. Can you remember the whole pattern without looking at it, though? It's easy to trip up on is what I'm saying. It's not bad, though. 7.25/10.
And don't bump your topic. 'Tis against the rules.

It's pretty good and I agree with SethMegadefan, it's kind of whacky. And you said 6 nps and I don't know if it's the same as bps, but if it is 6 BPS is pretty damn slow.

NPS is Notes per second. You're thinking of BPM, beats per minute. If it were 6 beats per second, then it'd actually be pretty damn fast.

Yeah; I've got it memorized. Not really that hard to remember once you've played it enough times.

And to any questions regarding the speed, it's approximately the same speed as those two aforementioned riffs - Black Dog and Plug In Baby.

Yeah, I suppose. It's not like having a complex riff is a bad thing, either. It's good for testing your memory. I'll bet once you memorize it and play it really fast it looks ridiculous.
