It's funny how a "Goth" band can write such brilliant pop tunes.

I like the Cure. I've noticed they have a few different versions of the songs I like. I don't really get that. I just know the versions I like are the good ones. Hmph!

If you want a real emo record (emo being emotional) listen to Disintegration. Such a heartbreaker.

yeah im a massive cure fan, i really advise either the greatest hits (obviously) and "disintegration", incredible album

Yeah, I love Disintegration, and I like the Cure. However, they can't hold my interest for too long. I'm so into Plain Song and Pictures of You, but I often have trouble getting through the whole thing. That's just me though.

the actual song disintegration is great for relaxing and such, homesick and lullaby too. plain song and love song were great

The Cure are excellent, though, as said beforehand, I can't seem to listen to them constantly.

Still, if they come on, 9 times out of 10, I listen.

The Cure is in my top three favorite bands in no particular order, the others being Pink Floyd and The Beatles. Their music has inspired me more than any other band, espescially lyrically. I saw them live and I have to say that it was the best concert I've ever been too. 4 hours nonstop (not counting their bathroom breaks)... It was amazing. Anyway, Disintegration is an awesome album and so is Pornography (if you haven't listened, do so. It's probably their darkest album). My favorite songs by them would have to be "Fascination Street", "A Letter To Elise", "Lovesong", "Bloodflowers", "Burn"(From "The Crow" soundtrack), "Lullaby", "Siamese Twins", "The Figurehead", and "Pornography"... That's my two cents.

Yeah, I used to always say that Wish was my favourite album, but I heard Disintegration recently and decided I like it more, :( I'm turning into a Cure-conformist.

It was mainly because of Lullaby and Lovesong.

OH, I love the Cure. I guess you'd call em goth music, that's the scene that they kind of fit into and such. I love their earlier stuff, like the song, "Killing An Arab," and such. Another one of my favourites is, "The Lovecats."

The Cure \m/

Seriously, you just find me a better band to dance to!

Apparently they're 'goth', I was informed of this quite recently.. popgothpunkcore (I made that up- I felt I should point this out to save from future embarrassment).

theyre alright. their singing is SO affected and dramatic, that kinda bugs me. and theyre a little image heavy for my liking. but the music is often quite good so thats cool. boys dont cry was always my favourite. i definitely prefer the smiths if we are going to have that debate.

For starters: Disintegration, Head On The Door, Wish. Then move on to Pornography and The Top and others. Those last two aren't the best to start on. Or you could just get 'Staring at the Sea' and 'Galore' (the singles compiations).

eh...I don't know...those CD's are all good, I've only HEARD Disintegration and Head... but I think they're really kind of deep into the Cure sound....if you already LIKE them those are good, but I think Boys Don't Cry is the best STARTING album for the Cure...the songs are simple rock songs with great melodies and creepy tunes (Subway Song) and it's one of those albums that you tend to like immediately...

Yeah BDC is good to start on but I started on Disintegration, and HOTD has some of their most well known singles e.g. Close To Me, Inbetween Days.

The Cure is awesome. Im a hardcore fan. My top 5 on the albums is : 1)Desintegration 2)Pornography 3)Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (probably number 2) 4)Seventeen Seconds and 5)The Head on the Door...My all time fave cure song are A Forest and Closedown. By the way if you say the cure is "emo" (not meaning emotional i.e Panic At the disco and that crap) You must kill yourself..if you know nothing about the cure then stfu and go listen to fall out boy.

The Lovecats is an awesome song, I also quite like Friday, I'm In Love. Based on just those song, they are hardly goth, its only the way they dress that makes them seem it.

Well Robert Smith is considered the original emo kid, and probably had a big impact on the genre. I'm not talking about pop-emo-crap like Panic! At The Disco, I mean actual late 80's and early 90's emo.

It's funny how a "Goth" band can write such brilliant pop tunes.

What the hells that supposed to mean? Loads of Goth bands have made awesome pop songs, see Siouxsie and the Banshees' Happy House, and Joy Division's Love Will tear Us Apart.

The Cure are ok. Theyve made some great songs, but they dont change their style much, and I honestly think they are a tad overrated.

But if a band has found a style that is good and works for them, why change it? I mean in general, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But they do change their style. Boys don't cry was basicaly a darker version of The Clash, and then they gradually developped into the bleakness of their 80's trilogy and then moved back into more acessible terriritory with Disentiegration and Wish.

Thats not changing your style, thats just making their sound more or less accessible. Its the same thing with Suicide Commando, an electro-industrial act. Sound remained exactly the same throughout the years, it just got more or less intense over time.

My point is The Cure dont ever go out of character, you know?

Agreed, it feels like they helped originate the original emo that so few even realize is the original.
