There's this local death metal band called Desecration, who've been going for about ten years and are pretty good. I have one of their CDs and saw them live once. They're not terribly well known, AFAIK, although I know I'm not the only one on this site who's heard of them and they've supported some fairly well known bands (e.g. they played with Cradle of Filth in Coventry not so long ago).

Questioned by Theory, ace band from the Dundee area. (scotland). They've only got a crappy recording at the moment but they should be doing a demo soon. So, look out for them. Oh, and if you google them, ignore the recording, especially the vocals. The vocals are amazing but sound terrible in the recording.

Vanity Theft.

They're ann all-girl band from my hometown and they flat-out own everyone here. I went to High School with all of 'en. This is a town full fo screamo/emocore chick pants bands and straight-edge tough guy Hardcore, yet they play circles around all of them by just playing simple songs. Picture a Bloc Party/Brand New-ish style by girls. They've been my best friends for years and I took they're guitarist Alicia to prom.

Check 'em out. www.myspace.com/vanitytheft. Recordings are a little rough.

No way man lol I used to be one of the guitarists in that band Royce taught me Music, God, and, Cigarettes and another one like the architect of disaster or something I think it was supposed to be the show opener. But I kind of quit the band because I was sick of playing metal or he kicked me out or somthing because on the myspace there is another guy named Dave York that took my spot.

Holy **** dude one of my best friends dads was the guitarist for Big Star(John Hummel). They live like two blocks away from me. Anyways, this local band in theory. Theyve been together about 3-4 years and they have some heavy songs and I dated their lead guitarists sister. Some of their songs are sub par though. I'm with you Wookie--I"m a MAJOR Bottle Rockets fan -- we don't seem to get them into Florida though. You haven't by any chance worked up any of their stuff? Pretty limited tabs/chords out there for Bottle Rockets material. I'd like to to work up "White Boy Blues" and "Alone In Bad Company" if I could ever find em....third song I learned all the way through (I've only been playing 3 weeks LOL) was "Smokin' 100's alone" .. the Rockets are great.

My other fave is The Wynn Brothers Band from Orlando FL

Mention Project in the company of Christians . . . they're very well known. Quite awesome, as well. :headbang:

Two that come to mind are:

Model Engine (rest in peace)
Kaddisfly (gaining popularity)

There's a band called the Red Riders, they're known locally but not very many other places, as far as I know. And there's also a New Zealand band called the Checks, they supported Muse on their most recent Australian tour, they were quite awesome.

Nightmare of You.

Their musical style is different; I can't really describe it. The lead singer's voice is completely unique. No one I know has heard of them, unfortunately.
