i have an epiphone lp studio with gibson humbuckers, and i play rectified with about 5 gain, and the pick-up in bridge position
maybe splitting your oils if possible brings the tone, otherwise try around

dont know much about effects, but he uses the 'woman' tone. which is using your neck pickup and turning the tone knob on the guitar all the way down. as for gain, try turnin that to about 7

at the end of the solo, the last part where he plays very fast and bends, he uses his normal tone.
If you want to sound like slash, you have to play very good guitar, get his signature amp and a gibson les paul

I get a pretty good tone with a neck pickup, no spin back the tone knobs, and use classic dst. on amp. full gain. treble 10 middle 7 bass 6 try that

Not necessarily.
Only Slash is going to sound like Slash.
Having his gear isn't going to give you the touch he has.

First, you have to be born Saul Hudson. Then you go through a life that involves drinking, guitar and a bunch of other stuff. Then you write a song called Novemeber Rain and write a solo, and your done.

Equiptment will not make you sound like someone.

Don't you think that you need Slash's tone?

Do you think that you need his tone?

Everybody needs Slash's tone

I get a pretty good Slash solo tone by switching to the neck pup (single coil on my strat ripoff) or neck-middle, and turning the tone nob on my guitar to about 3.5-4. Just use distortion after that.

Your probably never going to sound like Slash. Get your own tone, why would you want to sound like someone else?

Haha, wow, I love you :P

Question about the woman tone: when I roll back the tone knob all the way, it just sounds empty and bland, like someone buried the amplifier. I only have one tone and one volume, is that why?

This man is utterly correct and the sooner people cotton on to the fact the gear is a small component, the better.
