I'am looking into buying one because I've fallen in-love with the sound of it. I tried some out the other day and loved it but I would like to know which ones are best and maybe not too expensive and how much they'd cost.

i wouldnt call it that, but i guess its the same concept. theres a much more distorted sound, but the big draw of it is that pressure changes the tone. if you hit it harder, there will be much a different sound than if you hit it softer.

i have a DOD, works much better than the envelope filter on the digitech.

http://www.chookfest.net/emil/gear/img/qtron.jpg My favorite is the Electro Harmonix Q-Tron envelope filter. Flea uses them and so did Bootsy. I wanna get one soon but right now i have a digitech envelope filter/synth wah which also has an Auto-wah

DOD makes a great envelope filter for only like $30. Combine it with a Boss Compression/Sustainer CS-3, and it'd be perfect.

That's the cheap way out.

My personal favorite envelope filter is the Q-tron shown above.

the Q-tron is the best. However, it is the hardest to locate and most expensive. The DOD is the 2nd best, however it does not have a true bypass and thus... can suck a lot of tone out/suck as a pedal.

ive never had a problem with mine losing tone, i recommend DOD.

/\ lol, bassballs? ill have to check that out. It's less of an auto-wah sound than just a funky synth sound. Its way for out.
