Yeah, kind of.

They have a couple hits, and they practically started that huge wave of hair metal bands coming out of L.A.

Maybe not.

Hey, this is my 202nd post! Would anyone care to bake me a batch of cookies? :)

Here's a good list:

Armored Saint
King Diamond
ManoWar
Marillion
MetalChurch
Savatage

one hit wonder? are you ****ing insane?! Armored Saint, Manowar(cheesy as they are) still have a big power metal following, and Savatage is arguably one of the best metal bands ever, and have been commercially successful as well. King Diamond was and will be an icon forever. Marillion is probably one of the best and enduring prog rock bands post Floyd's art rock and Yes' prog.
and Metal Church was one of the better thrash bands to come out in the 80s.

Those are still popular

powerlord

Those bands are still big in Europe, they still tour and create huge crowds there but not here, hell I went to a Dokken and L.A Guns here in 03' and there was maybe 200 people there total, they used to sell out they don't anymore, those bands have an underground following, and most of them only had maybe 1 song played on the radio or Headbangers Ball,I agree with you they are excellent bands, but they were no mainstream 80's bands with huge multiple hits.

Helix had a bunch of hits. (defined as songs released as singles on albums that went at least gold)
Heavy Metal Love
Rock You
Gimme Good Lovin' (yes, a cover)
Make Me Do Anything You Want (er.... and another cover)
The Kids Are All Shakin'
Deep Cuts the Knife
Wild in the Streets

They're still doing it too. New album coming soon.... just finished a couple major festival shows in Europe.

Accept and Helloween are far from forgotten in the metal thread.

As are Savatage, King Diamond, Manowar and several other listed...
