Alexisonfire are really good. Very talented instrumentation from everyone if I may say so. Also, they have a crazy drummer. Or had, I don't know if Jesse was drumming on Watch Out or not...

You can bet they're going to grow in popularit even more than now after the next album. And acoustic Alexisonfire would be pretty crazy, considering they haven't really donr anything acoustic (not counting City & Colour).

Wrong! Generic, boring, emo fag metalcore!
(Which is so much better than pop-punk-emo-fag rock)

... (AILD is actually one of my guilty pleasures, they're just so generic that they pale in comparison to Alexisonfire. Even if you don't like their music, it's very unique.)

Come on, have you read any of AILD's lyrics? Please. Emo to the max. And half of the songs on Shadows Are Security have the heavy verse-clean chorus formula. A sign of emo if ever I've seen one.

Alexisonfire = Emocore
As I Lay Dying = Metalcore (Metalcore enough to be in Metal-Archives. Haha.)

.....obviously you havent read any AILD lyrics, they may not make much sense sometimes but i havent heard anything even slightly emo and ive heard all of their songs. you need to read more carefully, and also there are only 3 songs on shadows are security with clean vocals, and thats huge in modern hardcore anyway. heaps of modern hardcore/metal bands does that because of its effect when the screaming comes back in. basically the point im trying to make is that you dont know what your talking about so SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!!!

First of all, As I Lay Dying does have an emotional tint to their music. If you listen to the songs and read the lyrics, you can tell right off the bat. The guitars are heavy and their songs are catchy, but I find that Alexisofire is more "blah" than anything and they add little catch phrases in their songs. It's not what i'm into but i'll give them props for sweet intrumental parts in some of their songs.

From "Forever" by AILD:

Forever your eyes will hold the memory
I saw your heart as it overtook me
we tried so hard to understand and reason
but in that one moment
I gave my heart away
I give my heart away
I give my heart away
I gave my heart away

Forever your eyes will hold the memory
Forever your eyes will hold the memory
Forever your eyes will hold the memory

When i wake from this dream
Will your smile still open my heart and leave me transparent
When i wake from this dream
Will your smile still open my heart

"Darkest Nights" by AILD:

For so long I have felt alone
Content to live with unrest
Longing faded into countless nights
That buried my weary heart
But You brought an end
To this dead hour
And meaning to a calloused life
Held in Your arms
But too far from my heart
These thoughts will carry me through
The darkest nights
While Your eyes rest in mine
I remember the way You looked at me
And the way You drew me cose
With one deep sigh
Scattering pieces of my restless mind
Forgetting all that we have left behind

How is that not emo?

well, since this is supposed to be about alexisonfire ill first say that they pwn. definitley not emo, as mr grumpything over here attests. just cause they got clean vocals doesnt mean theyre emo. and since this is a guitar community anyways, you can't argue with their guitar sound. powerful stuff.

as for as i lay dying, i actually like them quite a bit. its very rudimentary rythmically, the guitar parts sound like something you might take out of a middle school snare drum players lesson book, but when they layer them up and add some heavy drums and bass its quite a smack in the gut sound. also the vocalist has a very versetile scream. rule of thumb: dont judge a band by lyrics. ever. especially one where you can hardly understand them anywho.

How is that not emo?

well let me tell you how its not, you see, As I Lay Dying are a christian band, so those songs are about God and/or Jesus

and just because a band has emotional lyrics, it most certainly doesnt automaticaly mean they are emo. because almost every band has atleast 1 emotionally driven song.

the thing that defines emo music is a COMBINATION of emotionally driven lyrics, whiny and hurt singing styles and lower notes. thus creating a depressing sound. so hah

p.s. Alexisonfire pwn.
