That would be a hell of a guitar- but you'd need a longer neck just to be able to play it. I think you have to buy it custom- made. That means it'll be expensive.

You could get a caparison horus, those are 27 frets but it's getting there

On eBay maybe. I heard Asmodai got a guitar with a lot of frets (36 maybe?) I don't know from where though.

EDIT: Ah-ha I was right!

Suposing you dont want to do very intence playing, you could always use a slide

whats the point tho? i for one, wouldnt see myself using the extra 12 frets

and even so, it would have to have a cutout body that would look really wierd (imagine 1/4 or corner if you will, of your guitar's body, gone, to make room for the fretting hand to fret the 24-36 frets)

It would be a bitch to get to those frets. Here's my idea: Get a cheap 7-string, like an Ibanez AX-7 or a Schecter, and restring it with a high-A string. You'd need a new nut of course, but it wouldn't be that hard, just use an .008 gauge string.

That's the best way of going about it I would think, though you have to remember once it gets to a certain point the notes should stop sounding, or at least lose tone that high, its the same with going too low.

I don't know from experience, but I would expect something like this to happen.

^But the A string wouldn't go that high. I mean go down to a store and try out a pitch shifter, set it 2 octaves up and play past the 12th fret. You can still hear it,amd still has tone. Pianos, violins, all sorts of instruments go up way high than a guitar and they sound fine. Actually, now that you think about it, a Whammy would be the best idea, then you wouldn't have to re-adapt your playing for the extra string (you'd have to get used to the idea that the high E isn't the highest string anymore) and your wouldn't have to reach way up into the ultra high frets, just use a pedal.

Wow revival of thread.

Or you can copy Bumblefoot, and use a thimble on the high frets

or use a slide

ya, the cheapest way is going to make it custom, just measure it out and make a custom neck and fretboard

I can just imagine frets 30 - 36 with a Whammy pedal, set two octaves up.

..ow.

If you have a 29 fret guitar, and the frets got smaller.. there wouldn't be any frets haha

Batio has a 29 fret guitar made out of like airplane aluminum or something, and Uli Roth has one with like a 3 octave range on one string I think.

I'd imagine having a whammy pedal, and a good FR, along with an octave pedal, on the 29th fret.
Awesome.

I'm always a bit amused about guitars like this. I seldom use notes past the 19th fret as it starts to be...well...unmusical I guess.

the ways there room is because the body is normally like a normal guitar just the neck is much longer meaing u will have to reach further away to hti the first frets and wat not

i think it useless because past 24
u really barely hear the notes it sounds like dead notes

even at 22 u suaully get that sound
i think its ridiculous

Briam May from guenn used a 28 fret neck and it is longer but not as much as you think, he made his himself though.

Michael Angelo Batio used to have a Washburn EC-36M in the Nitro days around 1988.

Some guitars only employ 1 humbucker.
Usually coupled with coil split/tapping for more versatility.

Ok, can anybody else understand this? If he's saying what I think he is saying, he is wrong. Brian May used a Burns Double Six, Gibson LP, Gibson Flying V, a Tele, an Inabez JS, a Parker Fly and of course, the Red Special.

The one thing that has truely baffled me about UG is necroposting...

How do people even find these old threads?

yeah, as a default the list of threads only lets you go back a month, but you can change it to go back as far as the beginning. which means these threads are NOT being revived by accident and their should be a rule against it.

anyway, this thread is *reported*, however, if the threadstarter is still looking for a 29 fret guitar nearly 2 years on, it still has a purpose...
