I just started listening to "Siamese Dream" and I love Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, and Mayonaise. I know they broke up but they're going to reunite minus Iha and D'arcy. Any thoughts

I don't really care about Darcy, but they need James.

Yeah, I think D'arcy is pretty much gone for good, now that she can't leave the country. James however, needs to get on board though.

I can't imagine them making any better music then they've already got.
Machina was average for me.

I hope that James does come back...but I don't think it'll happen...

...Anyway...their best:

Siemese Dream
Gish
Pisces Iscariot (Which I have recently decided is better than Mellon Collie)

the amount of threads that have been made on this band is so giant you'd need to ask nasa to calculate it.

siamese dream is sweet, i dont care for much else they did.

I liked a couple of their early songs, but aside from that, I didn't like the Pumpkins.

So what equirment did Billy Corgan used when he was in samshing pumpkins?
I know he used Fender Strat as his main guitar but a part form that I know very little about it.

If Billy Corgan and Gavin Rosdale made an album together that'd be sweet.

Smashing Pumpkins are definitely my favourite band of all time. Mellon Collie... and Siamese Dream are two of my favourite albums ever.

However I'm not too hot on this whole reunion thing, especially if James isn't going to be a part of the band. He co-wrote some of their best songs! Soma, Mayonaise and I Am One. D'Arcy I'm not as fussed about as at least it'd be Melissa filling in for her although in an ideal world D'Arcy would be there.

New record? I await with trepidation.

I love every track on Siamese Dream, one of the best albums of the 90's if you ask me.

Chamberlin is perhaps my favourite drummer ever, I'd be kidding myself if I said he was the best, but his drumming fit the songs so well that it set them apart from the rest of the songs in the grunge movement.

If Billy Corgan and Gavin Rosdale made an album together that'd be sweet.

That would never happen.
Billy hates Bush

Ahhh my all-time favorite band.

A reunion would be orgasic, but I'd be very disappointed if James didnt come back. They NEED him.

Favorite SP songs at the moment are as follows
Hummer
Muzzle
Pug
33
Geek USA

I love Saimese Dream. I cant find one single flaw, and it is quite possibly the perfect album.

My fave Pumpkins songs at the mo are BWBW, Geek USA, Cherub Rock, I Am One and The Everlasting Gaze.

AWA, that is the coolest avatar I have ever seen.

Oh, and their cover of Landslide. It actually makes me cry sometimes, and I don't usually cry over songs.

Landslide was actually listed in a book of the most depressing songs ever, apparently cos they thought Billy didn't sing it like it was supposed to be sung.

Am I the only one who thinks that "Machina" is their best record?
Hey, I mean with songs like "Try, Try, Try", "Heavy Metal Machine", "The Everlasting Gaze" and last but not least, one of my all time favorite songs, "This time"! :D

Cheers! I hope they come touring in Sweden!

Hrrmm, someone mentioned 33 as one of their favorite songs...
It that the title of a Coheed and Cambria song too?

Anyways, noone mentioned 1979
I love the video, and I love the song in general to death.

1979 is definately one of the best songs. I was in to them for a week straight it's all I listened to, then dropped offf a bit but the last day has been all Pumpkins again. Fantastic band.

What's everyone's fave song off the second disk of Mellon Collie?
Mine are probably Thirty-Three and Where Boys Fear To Tread.

Is Lily (My One and Only) supposed to be about a deranged stalker, or am I interpreting it wrong?

Abe

^I think Billy wrote it about his cat.

I don't rate the second disc of Mellon Collie half as much as the first. 1979 is the stand out track from it, but I also really like Stumbleine and Thru The Eyes of Ruby. Beautiful is cool too.

Geek_Aus
05-24-2006, 02:27 AM
Oh yeah, cos his cat's called Lily.
Right...
Wow I was way off track.
