thinks its motorhead Ace of Spades and Hawkwind motorhead the song but me thinks it`s Enter Sandman but we both disagree and agree that there is quite a few heavyistic riffs out there in heavy metal land but if you play the tune fae th x files at 180 bpm backwards we readily agree that this is truly the most heavyiest riff ever...

For heavy in a catchier way you can't beat Refused's New Noise. Then there's Thrice's Silhouette. Simple yet damn heavy. Obviously there's Battery, Damage Inc. and I think the riff from Holier Than Thou is damn heavy; the way the drums lock in just kick ass.

define heavy ? they're are different types. I'd say Fear Factory's Edgecrusher, Bonescraper and stuff like that are pretty ball breaking, but "Black Sabbath" is also damm heavy. Or Cannibal Corpses "Kill" the sounds on that are insane, its kinda like a warm fuzzy chainsaw

The outro riff to the Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is so.....well......heavy, especially for its time.

That being said, nothing is able to surpass the heaviness that is Electric Wizard. Even their "lightest" riff is probably more heavy than 99% of riffs out there

The ending riff of Machine Head's Davidian is heavy as hell.

of course I've heard this. its just called 'Beer' though. That album is so awesome.

anyway, the heaviest riff I've ever heard is probably Obzen by Meshuggah. You don't really hear much of anything tuned lower than that.
others are:

If that's the case, than SYL's first is the heaviest. It's got heavy twice in the title, and Gene Hoglan playing drums. He's like the heaviest drummer ever! He's like 784lbs!

In all seriousness though, pretty much any song by any quality funeral or drone doom band is heavier than anything that has been mentioned in this thread thus far, be it Skepticism, Thergothon, Nortt, Wormphlegm, Boris, Earth, Khanate, Sunn O))), etc.

Pssh. Low tuning doesn't make something heavy. Groove and tonality do. I've heard some tremendously heavy stuff in E standard. A specific moment that comes to mind, I'm thinking the last two minutes of A New Aurora are some of the heaviest, most unrelenting moments I've ever heard.
