I recently heard ''Steady Rollin''' by Two Gallants on tv, they are a farely unknown band, their website is www.twogallants.com. I fell in love with them instantly, their music, considering it is two people, is quite frankly amazing.

I would recomend them to anyone, and Im certain that they will be big in the next few years or so.

If you only hear one song, make it Steady Rollin', because its absolutly awesome.

I was wondering if anyone else liked them or what they thought about them?

Jamie

Don't tell me MTV2 has started playing them as well now?
I saw a video of Tapes 'n Tapes earlier as well!

Anyway... heard a couple of tracks by them in the past, they're alright, they wouldn't deserve the flake in the 99 if I bought them one though.

Is it really such a bad thing that MTV 2 are playing them? To be fair, I would be jumping for joy if my band got on mtv2, its good publicity, and thats why I started liking them anyway.

No, not necessarily a bad thing, but there are some bands that you feel shouldn't be touched by the tv channels and it always just comes as a surprise when they do take them away.

theyre pretty swell, obviously theyve got big since theyre on saddle creek now...

i saw them at leeds festival last year. they were awesome.

Yeah they deserve it to be honest. I find it really quite amazing when the vocalist (dont know names) plays such intricate guitar and sings WELL over the top. Im glad i started liking them now so i can tell all my friends I liked them before they were big...

What are peoples favorite songs? On further listening I reckon 16th street dozens is one of if not the best. The other obvious contendors are:

Steady Rollin'
Long summers day
Las cruces Jail (woo)
Fail Hard to regain

Anyone got any other ideas?

I love Two Gallants. I found out about them in an underground magazine. anyway, track reccomendations are:
Nothing to You
All your Faithless Loyalties
Train that Stole My Man

All solid tracks. i've been meaning to get the new album.

I only got their album off my dad this morning and I wouldn't say they're the best of the cream that is the Saddle Creek Cappachino, but they aren't comeplete shit either. I found that if I listen to them thinking that yes, they are a saddle band, then I like them more, which is wrong. As a band by themselves, I don't see them as too much. They seem averagely alright. Better than most crap on the radio, just not worth the hype imo.

there has been a lot of hype. i mean, christ, even the NME and MTV2 are worshipping them these days...

the pitchfork review of the new album was mega harsh though. it was funny.

Well, not a LOT of hype really to be honest. In fact no-one I know has heard of them. I would never have heard of them if i hadn't been happening to watch tv at that particular moment... But maybe thats just the UK?

OH EM GEEEEE

Adam from Two Gallants personally replied to my email :D

Made my day:

hey jamie. hows it going. thanks for inviting us to your town. i dont
think we are going to make it to birmingham until the fall. we were there
a few months ago so we have to visit some other places in the meanwhile.
we almost got into three different fights when we were there. rough place.
we are planning a europe tour in the fall so we should be back then. until
then.
adam.
2GS.

WOOOOOO I LOVE THEM SO MUCH

Hey, I just found this forum, I searched for threads, discussing two gallants. Great music they do. I'm listen to The Throes, but I like steady rollin' the most!

The more I hear this duet the more I like them. Their songs are original and catchy. My favourites are: Train that stole my man, Waves of Grain, and Las Cruces Jail.
I'm usually not a fan of long songs (Songs over about 4 minutes), but Two Gallants can make great long songs.

Well it is Pitchfork after.

Pretty much, if any artist has any association with Qua'nir in any way, Pitchfork will hate on them.

I don't know why though.

I mean, aside from them hating artists that are from the states and not ironically popular.

I havn't heard much from Two Gallants but, Las Cruces Jail is an incredibly awesome song! Everything else I've heard from them seems to get old fairly quick, but they are extremely talented none the less.

i found out about them just recently. and listening to long summer day, methinks he's a racist. then i realized they were american, which would explain the whole song.

^If you didn't really listen to the lyrics then you wouldn't know that he was singing in character. A lot of their songs deal with antebellum south, and so that would come up.

If you've never heard their early stuff, heres a link:

I read in a review of them live somewhere that there were more guys in the audience singing along and getting emotional than women by a long shot, and the ratio was more than any other live show the reviewer had been to. I can understand why - Adam's voice is gritty, and the emotions they portray and stories they tell aren't pretty - but they're realistic (imo) and put me in a more contemplative mood than any other music.

I've showed Two Gallants to two females - one of them just said "i wish the guy could sing better" and the other said "ew, that's gross. i don't want to listen to that garbage". But i've kind of grown to like having them to myself.

Unfortunately, i'm 15, and relatively controlled...probably never get the oppurtunity to see them live.

Are 21+ shows strict then?
I used to go to quite a few 18+ shows over here before I was 18, they didn't ever seem to care.
