hey guys
i was just wonderin wat u think of this idea
see i have this idea i wanna try witha friend of mine
she plays acoustic guitar and sings
i was wondering wether u rekon it would sound good if she recorded sum vocals and sum acoustic guitar stuff then sent it to me, i mixed it put sum lead electric stuff over the top and MAYBE add sum sort of drum loop in the background

k thnx for ur suggestions!!

only if u mix it so the acoustic is loud enough to be heard, which ull probably do anyways, but yea, sounds cool

and if u play it live, get her an electro-acoustic, and if u hav a good overdrive pedal to use for some lead, itll be a pretty sweet band

yer thats wat she has (forgot to mention that did i?)
and i got a nice pedal, its not just overdrive so it kinda lets down a little but it still sounds sweet

fyi, id recommend having her record the acoustic & vocals together to a click track and having very precise tempo notes so that the drum loops can easily be placed over it...... i heard a guy record this guitar track without one (a click track) once and then he freehanded a loop over it and it was the WORST recording EVER..... i mean literally..... the drums stayed in time w/ the guitar for about 5 seconds out of a 5 minute song.....what a waste of good hard drive space y'know? also for the mix, everything should be equal level mixed to 0 and 0.5 ish at the loudest, im not sure how much recording experience you have but its just a good general rule of thumb

well it doesnt have to be overdrive, i just assume itd go good with acoustic
if its a distortion pedal, u can get overdrive out of that too
edit: OH add a bit of chorus, now THATd be a great song! sorry i cant help much with drum suggestions

i havnt had much recording experience thats good to know thnx
and im thinkking of not putting drums in as of yet??
wat u think?? with or without drums??

04-07-2006, 06:19 PM
i think do drums after u get the guitar stuff down

04-07-2006, 06:19 PM
u rekon just a soft drum beat?
so its easier to mix??

04-07-2006, 06:23 PM
yea i guess

haha, make sure your on time with the guitar before you doo all this ya know, a metronome would be a great idea

actually, use a metrognome to get the tempo down first then do a looped drum track for her to listen to through headphones while she records so you know it will fit.
