So I had one chance to see him in concert when he came to Minneapolis, right? Well, fate shoveled **** in my face by making it impossible to aquire the measly $15 dollars for the damn tickets. I almost cried. Either somebody "up there" hates me.....or sombody "down there" hates me....either way, I'm screwed

can you guys suggest good songs? I downloaded "electric tears" and...there's not much of music in it..unless the file was ****ed up..it was kinda like a synthesizer(sp?) or something like that and like the same 2 or 3 notes played once ever 2 minutes..for about 6 minutes...and then the song ended..

I love when he breaks out into the really long fast part. He gradually builds up speed, then just starts shredding like crazy. I also like when the drums kinda fade out in the background and it's just him shredding. It's soooooo awesome.

what's the connection between Viggo Mortenssen (that's the actor who played Aragorn in LOTR) and Buckethead? He refers to Buckethead somewhere as "my best friend and my son" - and I was completely unaware of Mortennsen's talent as a poet, songwriter and singer... apparently he and Buckethead collaborated over several projects.

how about that?

TheUltimateSin

but he also said Buckethead was 18 in like 2005 or something, which meant that Buckethead was 3 or 4 on the Giant Robot demos...

Though like you said, he did do many collaberations with him.

yea taking that statement on face value would be ridiculous unless of course there is even more to Buckethead than of the little that we know... maybe he's not of this earth... I mean he very well could be an alien, the whole Brian Caroll thing is his cover... and maybe Viggo is his human familiar... sure why not?

NOTTINGHAM LACE, Kansas Storm, Electric Tears(the song), Population Override, Too Many Humans, Angel Monster, Welcome to BucketheadLand, Way to Heaven, Sketches of Spain, ect.......yeah pretty much everything IMO. It really depends on if you want his fast stuff, his slow stuff, or both.

The image of Buckethead and Aragorn going into battle and slaying orcs enters my mind causing great amusement..

On topic- I think Buckethead is absolutely awesome, I learned Welcome to Bucketheadland not that long ago and it was nowhere near as hard as I'd expected.
Anyone know if he ever comes to the UK to play gigs?

trollblod
04-18-2006, 02:15 PM
Well grundskolan in sweden is basicly grades 1 to 9, then you select a program for somethnig called gymnasiet, which is usually 3 to for years 4 (I'm going to Estetisk musik (Estetical, or whatever, with music as prime subject)
Then you get to go to a university if you want to (I'm going for the audio engineer program)
so, yeah.

I'll see about that pic, and I'm not going to look like buckethead, 'cause I don't have a KFC bucket or a kabooki mask.
So it's just me with a cleaning bucket over my face. :p:

I just realized that I've slowly been growing more fond of Buckethead's slower, more mellow songs than his faster pieces(except Nottingham Lace. Best. Song. ever). I mean, I've been listening to stuff like Kansas Storm, Angel Monster, Electric Tears, Sketches of Spain, Too Many Humans, Clones, and Way To Heaven a lot more often than any of the faster stuff of his that I have. It seems like everyone mentions all of his faster stuff when I find his slower stuff a lot more....er...whats the word I want to use.....well, I was going to say "more melodic" and "more emotional", but then the freight train known as common sense slammed into my head and I got unstupid.....I like it more, that's the point I am getting across and I was curious to see how many other people thought so as well.(coincidentally, I am listening to Angel Monster as I type this...)

If Serj knew wat was good for him, he and buckethead would become a full time thing. They are perfectly suited, and they could probably get Les Claypool involved aswell due to them all being good friends. That would be spontaneous orgasm worthy. There live show would definatly own SOADs and i think "We are one" Is easily better than sumtin like Mr Jack or maybe Sugar. Oh i want it too happen!!

Btw does anyone know where to get some buckethead backing tracks from? Im trying to find Botnus, Welcome to Bucketheadland or sumting just as good. Ive tried guitarbt.

I've got some Buckethead bootlegs, he does some badass instrumental Hendrix covers
(my server is down at the moment due to a blow power supply but I had a nice version of Machine Gun uploaded up there, I've also got him doing Foxey Lady, and the solo from Crazy Train, though that ones not Hendrix)

@Godly Moose: The more I watch the video for NotS, the more I grow fond of that solo(the whole song, for that matter though). I don;t know why, but everytime I watch it or listen to it, I can't help but get a brief chill in roughly the first 30 seconds or so. I don't know what it is.

yo check out this album by this travelling menagerie of madmen, Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, called "The Big Eyeball in the Sky"... this is probably as far out as conventional popular music can go without being labelled entirely as avant garde.

Buckethead+Brain+Claypool+Bernie = Experimental super group of awesomeness

You guys heard Crime Slunk Scene yet? Some nice riffage on that album. Soothsayer is now one of my favourite Bucket tracks.

No, I have to wait for the end of this month to listen too it. Because it's a tour only CD, so I have to wait for when I see him again. Yeah, soothsayer was the song last tour that was labeled, "new song," "mellow wedge," and "waiting here." I love it aswell, one of the most beautiful songs ever. <3

Found it on youtube. Here:

haha the place i'm seeing him is so small i could be in the back and still be able to see him perfectly fine. Does anybody know normal Buckethead routines at concerts? Like will he do the robot and use his numbchucks?

Depends. Check for previous concerts this tour, and check the set list. And he always dances, gives out toys, nunchucks. So you don't have to worry about him doing that.

Yeah I didn't get close enough for a toy but i did stay for an hour afterwords and get That One Guy's and Buckethead's autograph. Buckethead doesn't really talk, but the 6 or 7 of us who stayed that long after talked to That One Guy for 20 minutes and he's a really cool guy.

I've only seen him talk twice. And both times they were with Herbie.

I noticed how he took care of the toys that he kept on stage so much. He had a Darth Vador action figure that he stuck on top of an amp while he was playing, and 10 seconds later it fell off, so while he was still playing he bent over to pick it up. And it was amusing when the roadies came out in chicken outfits and just stood there in the backround.

Those might have been his bots(friends). Since at the one I went some guy danced around while wearing a mask, while another was crawling around. And some guy was riding around on a bicycle.

This might be Buckethead taping. And if so, then that's him talking.

Also, Buckethead from his earlier days. =O

I wanna get it really bad. He does an interview where he talks.

I personally think Buckethead, Les Claypool and Gabby La La should get married in this cornucopia of love and weirdness

If you ever seen the MTV interview where he uses Herbie(A head hand puppet) to talk. He has a really soft voice.

No, "Ballad of Buckethead," and "Buckethead" are two different songs. "Ballad of Buckethead," is from, "Monsters and Robots" which is by Buckethead, but has vocals by Claypool. While, "Buckethead" is from "Big Eyeball in The Sky" album by "Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains". :)
