Neil Peart
Vinnie Colaiuta (watch this http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gekqb0FWSPc he's the dude with the glasses)

The dude from Slipknot is overrated as hell. He's got quick feet and can do some power fills but there are so many drummers out there better than him.

Yes, I saw Terry " Machine Gun" Bozzio on a lighted electric kit with glowing sticks many years ago at a Missing Persons show and was totally blown away! but as far as best ever, I'd go with Buddy Rich, Bill Bruford, and Gene Krupa.

For me:
1. Eric Carr
2. Joey Jordison
3. Rush drummer (not a Rush fan)

I don't really know that many drummers. I'm not a big Slipknot fan, but I like Joey Jordison, I know the Rush drummer is craxy. Like I usually don't care that much about classic rock drummers, but this guy is awesome. Eric Carr is my favourite because of the effect his drumming had on KISS, and I like a lot of his solos. His best is Carr Jam 1981, and it was like an actual drum solo instead of the usual 5 minute drum roll you hear from everyone else.

Ginger Baker - Cream - Favourite song: Toad

I like him for his ability to add to a song, and still combine the rest of the instruments into one thing.
Herbie Hancock

I have no idea how anyone can say the guy from AC/DC.That has to be the most boaring part of the music. And to people saying Joey from Slipknot.Sure he's good but he has no chance in hell of outplaying any of the three listed above.

1st- Paul Mazkerwitz (or however its spelled)- Cannibal Corpse
2nd- Lars Ulrich- Metallica
3rd- The Drummer for Strapping Young Lad

P.S.- What has Joey of Slipknot done that no one else has and makes him the "greatest drummer" ever?! Get Paul Mazkerwitz to do it, man can he do double-bass, and he'd make the band the greatest thing in a while!

I'm pretty sure Joey's just very fast and his creativity is really interesting. Nothing overly elaborate, he's just great at what he does. But yeah, I'd like to see someone else do something with Slipknot just for fun.

And I STILL think Eric Carr would've been better than Joey if he was still alive today... :peace:

Dave Grohl
John Bonham

Dave isn't the most technical, but for what he lacks in that department, he makes up for in attitude. You can hear his attitude through his drumming. It's not all about skill and technicalities.

Neil Peart is soooo overrated. He's NOT THAT GREAT!

its spelt boring, the drummer well at the moment im led to believe for AC/DC is chris slade and

any drummer who plays double kick beats on single kick.

i.e. Grohl, Bonham.

and for technical: matt cameron, mitch mitchell and dave abruessezze, oh and stewart copeland.

sorry about double post but my internet won't let me click on edit :( but

Im tired of people when they talk about drummers, and how fast they can play double kick.
Its well more than that that makes a good drummer.

and yes i know its people opinions of their favourite drummers but double kick is overrated its all drummers these days seem to be associated with.

ZOMG i can play 328940329842bpm with my double kick - who actually gives a shit.

Playing technical is much more important that speed.

I agree, but when you get the technique down and you're used to it, you want to try something new. That why people start double-kick. Like do you know anyone who started off with double-kick? And it's not like double-kick holds you back from being technical. If it does, you should give it a rest.

Im challenging the impossible im learning double kick with one kick.

Its not that im against it its just why two pedals when you can do on one?

all three of them are progressive drummers... I wonder why...

03-02-2007, 01:51 PM
My choices?

Josh Freese is my FAVOURITE drummer of all time. I think that guy has a brilliant grasp of dynamics.

Danny Carey... his drumming is just plain amazing. People argue Portnoy is faster, or more precise, or whatever, but I care little for that. All I know is that every time Danny Carey hits something, it sounds like Danny Carey. On drums, it's hard to do that.

Jimmy Chamberlain. Again, his drumming is unique, instantly recognisable and totally breaks out of the alt-rock skinpounder box. Teamed up with Corgans awesome songwriting and guitar work, it's just... perfect.

By far the 3 best drummers are currently active ones not some dryed up old tone deaf 70s veterans, they are:

Mike Mangini
Thomas Pridgen- The Mars Volta
and I know theres probably better drummers then this but its the only other one that comes to mind
Gavin Harrison- Porcupine Tree

Slipknot, Blink 182, and all those other mainstream musically untalented bands suck.
