I've searched the forums and I didn't see this anywhere. I apologise for the excessive new-thread posting here these past few days, but I couldn't help myself. I'm trying to bring a little more 80s rock rather than just shred in this forum.

Anyways, on topic, Jump by Van Halen.

well, i hate the cars. Dunno, dont know much about 80s pop. Maybe some ****tier hair metal, ala slaughter, only they're 90s.

Frieght Train by NITRO. Cheesier than a jar of Cheeze Wiz.

If it were 80s (think its 78 or 79 or sumthin) it would be Personality Crisis by the Dolls and by that I mean its too glam.

I'd go with Final Countdown too, maybe Cherry Pie

Haha yes nitro is one of the cheesiest things I've ever come across. I must say that Jump by Van Halen also made it difficult for me to respect eddie.

While I haven't heard freight train and don't think Jump is all that cheesy I'd say that even though it's an awesome somg the lyrics to In My Dreams by Dokken are pretty much teh cheezorz :S
'In my drems its still the same my love is strong it still remains' come on......

Without You or You're All I Need by Motley Crue. hair metal ballads are what define cheesiness. not forgetting Jump by VH of course.

+1. I like "Jump" too. Say what you want, but it is one of Eddie's best solos.

"Nitro" is pretty provolone. I also think some of Steve Vai's stuff was pretty cheesy too, especially with David Roth.

Yngwie is quite cheesy come to think of it, I mean, especially the keyboard solos. Did I mention Judas as well? It reminds me of Bon Jovi.

^ Stilton is the word you're looking for ;)

Ktulu Master
04-24-2006, 06:20 PM
^More like Extra Mature Blue Stilton :p:

I was gonna mention Judas but I didn't for some reason. Mind you I love the keyboard solo on Far Feyond The Sun even though thats Bree.

Are we forgetting W.A.S.P.? I think if we want to do stereotypical cheezeball 80s songs, "Fück Like A Beast" wins... Hands down...

Well, I guess the competition would be:

"L.O.V.E. Machine"
"Cries in the Night"
"Harder Faster"
"On Your Knees"
"Scream Until You Like It"
and various others...

But yes, I do agree with almost every other song here...

I don't see how a Van Halen fan couldn't love Jump. Roth-era Van Halen songs never had any serious meaning and many other VH songs were equally "cheesey", the only difference is that Jump featured synthesisers. The song is awesome and that's one Eddie's best short solos and it's nowhere near as cheesy as other songs being produced by Van Halen's hair metal contemporaries.
