Aiden! or Thursday

Syn Harvest
04-25-2006, 01:59 PM
I personally like Atreyu more my style though TBS are good to they went to warner for probably only one reason more money. Indie labels just cant fork it over like Major labels can

but then again you gotta understand indie labels nuture their artists more than Major labels do they give them a chance to grow if TBS new Album flops Warner will drop them.

So if my band ever got signed i would sign with an indie label first

frodoisdead
04-25-2006, 02:20 PM
ewww atreyu

tbs have been nutured more than enough

they have done the rounds enough times to venture into major label territory

but definately thursday & tbs for me.

but how i loathe victory records.

Syn Harvest
04-25-2006, 02:46 PM
Yes TBS have been nurtured enough but you gotta understand since they are new to the label if they dont sell at least 500,000 copies Warner wont make any money so they might be cut.

If they like other bands on the label are given slack when the sell ****ty like Static-X new album it only sold 160,000 copies but previously there first two albums sold 3million copies so Warner made some profit and allow them to have ****ty sales in hopes they will sell better later because Warner isnt losing money

Def. Thursday.

j0nmcc

They get so much royalties from major records and **** like that.

REFUSED

04-25-2006, 11:03 PM
definantly Refused

But i hate Victory records entirely

They have to be the biggest hit or miss record company ever

half their bands suck horribly
and most of them claim to be "Emo"

Emo is dead
its died long ago
soooooo many bands have been thrown into the emo category that the whole "genre" is a mashed up distorted genre and the line between emo and not emo or what makes emo emo is soooo vague that its hardly disitinguishable

but if agree with mrshll

Taking back sunday, and Hawthorne Heights, but i only like a few hawthorne heights songs, the screaming really throws me off entirely, i like their acoustic versions of songs better. I'm tempted to get my band to do a cover of Ohio is for Lovers and drop the screaming because i think it could be a much better song.

I HATE Atreyu, i cna't stand them, they're on my "****ty bands" list right up there with Korn and Slipknot and System Of A Down...

Hmmmmmm...

SOAD are completely different to HH, i can't stand SOAD because they're music (in my opinion is crap), they're lyrics are nice but their music annoyes me...

Even though i have written music that people have said (and i quote) "sounds like System" i still can't stand their music...

Atreyu, hands down. I don't even care I have Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses-which I think is amazing, The Curse- is wonderful and was the cd that got me addicted and Deathgrip on Yesterday is ****ING AMAZING. Deathgrip has alot less screaming and the actual meaning behind the lyrics is more pronounced, I can't stop listening to it! I got their autograph after their show at warped tour last year and they were uber nice too.

Woot, Long Island bands getting some love. I hate Aiden SO much... everything about their image just adds to the confusion between mall goths and actual goths. Their music sucks terribly too. There's nothing good about who they or what they do. I heard the lead singer got a konk on the head and played a show with his head covered in blood. Kinda bad ass, but kind of stupid at the same time.

Does anyone have any background info on Victory? Whats with the hypocricy and the 5 minute commercials every two seconds?

Haven't heard the less publicised bands (Yeah, I'm a slave to the music industry, I know...), but I'd have to agree with Thursday, especially with their new CD, which I thought was pretty good. Honestl, although some of the intrumentation is nice (i.e. Saying Sorry), I get annoyed by bands like Hawthorne Heights and Aiden. I also don't like Victory's whole "destroy pop music, listen to real music" type mentality they take with their advertisements. Way to advocate open-mindedness

I heard the TBS couldn't wait to get out of their deal with Victory. I don't think they like it that much and the owner of the label bashed them when they went to Warner even though they are the band that made his label big.

But I'd say Catch 22 is the best band on there and has the best release with Keasbey Nights.

Straylight Runs playing a gig near me in AUSTRALIA next year. I get Straylight Run, Say Anything, Saves The Day, Finch, Goldfinger and a few other bands that i've forgotten, all at one festival for 110$.

I'd pay $110 just to see Straylight and Say Anything.

EDIT:

And yeah, holy shit, 2 years? WTF?!

Don't you mean that they used to put out some asshole hardline bands like Earth Crisis that hate gays, peopel who aren't die hard environmentalists, and people who enjoy having a smoke, or a drink, or a hit on the hash pipe once in a while, and think all people who aren't like them should be killed?

Not to mention, the bands sucked.

That may be true but even still, the contributions Earth Crisis made to the early 90s hardcore scene are undeniable. Half of the early Tooth and Nail bands (Focused, Strongarm, Focal Point, Zao) give them credit.

Not that I'm a huge Earth Crisis fan by any means but I think they did alot more for the evolution of heavy music (not even just straight edge) than say Hawthorne Heights or some of the other bands being mentioned here.
