Too much sweeping, not enough creativity - In my opinion, anyway. I suppose it's alright if you wanna be a robot with good chops.

Satch Boogie - Joe Satriani.

It's really fun to improvise with it once you get it.

It's also a cool song by Sven Gali....but that isn't as cool or half as fast as Rusty Cooley

^^Hey man, it's not as cool sounding but it's a kick ass song.

by cool I meant shreddy..just didn't put it right.

Master Of Shred

So when something's shreddy it's cool? In any case?

You're basically saying that....

IMO, no matter how much Cooley practises, he will never be as cool as Gilmour for an example, who is sloppy at times live.

Cosmic Acid

so its not good to learn? i should better check speed metal symphony . right now i'm practicing the intro from arpeggios from hell and it kicks ass

Seriously, try taking out whatever's in your ass and headbanging, you'll have a lot of fun and you'll understand what that song is for.

No I'm saying that song is a cool shreddy song, not every song that involves any kind of shred, that would just be silly.

:p:

Nah, not a good beginner song. I don't think anyone bothers to tab it since it's so freakin hard. It's just like nonstop shred at 18-24 nps, with an insanely cool riff. The riff isn't as hard, but still pretty challenging. It is a good song to learn, but there's no tabs for it, and it'd be on like an extremely advanced level.

Even though he has harder songs, that's the coolest one IMO. Like FP said, it's all about speed and metal.

Basically, any stuff involving Racer X/Paul Gilbert will help your chops.

Like already been said, Eugene's Trick Bag, Tender Surrender by Steve Vai.

One of my personal favourites is the solo in Scarred by John Petrucci.
