what about, i don't know... acoustics for emo? or for any of these other categories... if you're gonna list basses, then i think acoustics should be listed where appropriate.... ok, that's my 2 cents. :D

Hmmm

On your list of Basses

Punk/Ska-Anything that works

...

Not really...

A punk guitar can be crappy but the bass is where the music really needs to be descent. The heavy steady bass neads to be a good tone. SO you need more than just a something that works.

and thanks for adding that's what this thread is for!

I disagree that anything is good for punk ...

ie, I wouldnt play some Nirvana with a Les Paul. Granted Les Pauls kick ass, but they don't have the same sound.

I recommend Strats / Mustangs / Jaguars to get a good Punk sound.

DS-2 pedals are also good for this style.

Is Nirvana the sound of all punk?

I thought not.

I mean those guitars would be great for Punk

I mean obviously you arne't going to bea ble to cover any punk band if you buy a guitar. I mean some have distinct sounds... But that applies to any genre really.....

If you are writing your own music you can get a punk sound from any guitar given you have the rights pedals
P.S. in most people's opnion Nirvana was more heavy rock than punk....

Put thanks for your addition

And Mustangs suck for Nirvana sounds, Kurt had humbuckers, you need them for a good Nirvana sounds.

AND STOP TRYING TO IMITATE OTHER PEOPLE'S SOUNDS. BE CREATIVE!

That is all.:D

i always thought kurt played a mustang??????

He did play a mustang, im sure a lot of nirvana songs used single coils. However the jagstang Kurt was having made prior to his death had a humbucker, to be frank i dont think Kurt cared either way, he was no tone nut.

He played a lot of his songs on the guitar he could get before the show....
it didn't really matter to him... Although some stuff had humbuckers a lot of stuff used single coils.

You can say he wasn't a tone nut about most of his stuff... It all depends on which song... The Way.. He had to have single coils and on a lot of the songs that were slower he had to have a certain guitar make up in order to play it...
P.S.
A good guitar for classic pop rock The Beatles, THe BEach Boys, is a any Rickenbacker....
I was playing one today and realized I had not included them

OMG... This is the most stupid thread I've ever seen...

You can play blues with a BC Rich or metal with a tele as long as it sounds good to YOUR ear!

good job....

That was stated in the first post. This thread was made because so many people post threads asking what kind of guitar is good for such and such type...

It was also said in the first post that this thread is only "suggestions" not a final thing.. I mean come one calm down

P.S. There is a thread called "Avril is more Hardcore than Mudvayne" in the PIT and you are calling this the stupidest thread?
