i have been obsessed with blues music for the last year or so, listening to hendrix daily has become a sort of obsession. recently i was thinking about the artist's that influenced the musicians of that era and i want to find more of them!! robert johnson is the only blues man i hav really discovered!! could anyone cast some more light onto this subject!! i would like to know some more blues artists that heavily influened my idol, Jimi Hendrix(RIP)!

Def. Buddy Guy as soon as you listen to him you will hear the influence he had over Jimi. I also recommend listening to Albert King, he was more of an influence on Stevie Ray Vaughan but he def. has an awesome style.

Check out Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan (Jimi actually had a huge influence on him rather than the other way around), John Lee Hooker (a personal favorite), Howlin' Wolf, etc.

As far as some delta blues, check out Big Bill Broonsy, Charlie Patton, Elmore James, Son House, Bukka White, etc.

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream, Rory Gallagher; they're probably closest to Hendrix's style. Then, as for just blues, look into B.B. King, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy.

All insanely good players.

No mention of Paull Butterfield yet eh. If you like blues harp songs, Paul Butterfield is the way to go.
