Hmmm we usually do the following:
Times Like These Acoustic - The Foo Fighters
Everlong - The Foo Fighters
Best of You - The Foo Fighters
Where Did You Sleep Last Night - Nirvana/ Leadbelly
Polly - Nirvana
Jesus Doesn't Want me For A Sunbeam - Nirvana/ The Vaselines
Hit Me Baby One More Time Acoustic (I Know, I Know...) - Britney Spears
Under The Bridge - RHCP
Knockin' On Heavens Door - Bob Dylan/ Guns 'N Roses
Patience - Guns 'N Roses
Fall To Pieces - Velvet Revolver
Tribute - Tenacious D
Nothing Else matters - Metallica
Grand Theft Autumn Acoustic - Fall Out Boy (Hey It's A Good song)
Juneau Acoustic - FFAF
Wherever You Will Go - The Calling
99 Red Balloons - Goldfinger
Pretty much any Nirvana/Foo Fighters song works, but obviously if you don't like them then you can just take easier songs and change them to acoustic. Works for me anyway.

Whenever a bunch of friends are around a bonfire or something, one of our favorite things to do is sing "The General" by Dispatch. I'd play it on a guitar or we'd sing it acapella.

Either way, it sounds good.

My acoustic set is mostly either blues, unhappy music, or stuff like Jethro Tull. So I don't do too many campfires.

My friend does some DMB and it's good, though.

Any Jack Johnson song practically. Those are so laid back and wonderful. Specifically though, Banana Pancakes is the way to go. ^ ^

Blackbird by The Beatles is also a great song.

I would suggest Irish folksongs like my mom sings, but I figure you might not like them. *lol*

Wagon Wheel- Old Crow Medicine Show
Refugee- 8 Ball Aitken
Big Rock Candy Mountain- Harry McClintock
Sweet Home Alabama- Skynard (gets folks goin)
Can You Feel The Love Tonight...hey..Cheesy as hell but youd be surprised how well it works with a campfire crowd especially late at night, and in less-than-sober circumstances.
Sweet Child o Mine, Paradise City- Guns n Roses

Anything accoustic is probably good. John Dever's "Take Me Home Country Roads" maybe?

Dave Matthews Band
Oasis
Bob Marley Songs
Dispatch
Tenacious D
O.A.R.

These bands probably make the best campfire songs. But most people don't know who they are.

dude, learn some real folk songs, alot of them you'd be surprised that people allready know them and if its songs that you've known since you were young they mean alot more. Maybe because I live in Alabama and there's still a bit of a folk influence here it works.

Get the American Anthology of Folk Music and download some woody guthrie.

I prefer the Animals version but I'll second this. We played folk around the campfire last time we went to a festival, but we forgot to play this. Excellent song, and a great singalong.

One of the best ones I do is The General by Dispatch. You want songs that people can sing along to and enjoy. Here are some that work well for me (or some that would be good):

Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi
You Shook Me All Night Long (accoustic) - ACDC (love that one)
Let it Be, Hey Jude and Come Together - The Beatles
Landing in London - 3 Doors Down
Cryin' - Aerosmith
Free Fallin - Tom Petty
Knockin on Heavens Door - Bob Dylan/Guns N Roses
Tiny Dancer - Elton John
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis
More Than Words - Extreme
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
Tassez-vous de d'la - Les Colocs (for those who are french lol)
Galway Girl - The Punters (my favorite)

Tip: If your looking to pick up some girls or impress the ladies, play some Taylor Swift (or country). No joke lol
