Anyone think it could happen? I have no idea how far apart each is, so yeah.. i've checked satriani's and vai's website quite a bit, no word though.

what do you people think?

I'm hoping so, but I have no idea really. Where exactly in Dayton do you live? (i.e. what suburb or do you actually live in the city)

Maybe when Gilbert releases his instrumental album...

it would be cool with IA joining Satriani and Vai.

if else Gary Moore would be the suitable person.

It could happen, what with all the magazine attention he's had recently and the upcoming instrumental album.

Yeah, I've been hoping for a long time that Vai and Satch would pick Gilbert as the third "G".

Same here.

The cool thing about Gilbert when jamming is he adjusts to the people he's jamming with. When you look at the Seoul clinic videos, you see him "holding" back, playing groove based pentatonic stuff with the guys who are just jamming with him in a relaxed way, but when this bloke comes up and tries to show him up with lots of sweeps and tapping etc, he turns into a monster shredder.

I'd love to go to one of these shows, especially if Gilbert plays. Does this thing come to England?

:p: Yeah I noticed that. The guy was all serious faced and sweeping the best stuff he could do even though it wasn't that amazing/quite sloppy, and then Gilbert just kinda of laughs and rips him to pieces "all in good fun" of course!

Nah, i think the Gilmeister was just playing the way the guy wanted him to play. And play he did. Its when you see the pros beside people like that you realise that actually, some people find that kind of stuff really easy and will pwn you in a second.

Its a great possibility that SÚnor Pablo will comlplete the circle of G3 and he's been meaning to join it. Perhaps waiting for the green light from Vai n Satch.

Also, i'd really like to see Marty be in one, but he's busy with his weekly tv show in Japan :(

Matt_Malmsteen

If they pulled Friedman or Gilbert on G3 I'd go for sure, although they probably wouldn't come to Nottingham, I'd happily travel.

And yeah I noticed that with Gilbert, the thing I love about Gilbert alot is the fact that he doesn't actually show off much and he manages to make a complete ass of himself alot but whilst also being serious about what he's doing....plus he's one damn good guitarist as well.

I think all his vids have those really funny stuff, like in TGT, the background you can see someone cooking and whatnot, at the end, there's this kinda like Japan Godzilla kinda thing :haha . Even in his Intense rock sequence, he did a magic show with a guitar and a lady :haha

Gilbert seems like the ideal choice now... with the instrumental album soon to be released, and he just wrapped up a short tour with Sheehan, who would probably put in a good word for him to Vai, if it were necessary.

What if Satch didn't invite Vai this time... it could be Satriani, Friedman, Gilbert...

Well, there's also Andy Timmons who's just released his Resolution album, and Marty about to release his end of this month in Japan.

So I don't know, but I hope it's Gilbert.

^It's not like they don't have guests or anything...

But the whole premise is Satch, Vai and an invitee... G3 is a brand name now, changing it would be crazy.

Yes but if Paul Gilbert comes to the next one, it will be embedded in history forever.

So just imagine, 3 of the best living guitarists in the world going at each other in the most intense guitar duel of all time and you have the next G3 jam.

...if Mr. Gilbert is invited.

Yeah, I thought he didn't have much stage prescence. And when he played Damage Control, there were a few times throughout the song that I thought he was going to mess up majorly.
