Just curious. I know what it means, but I dont know what effect it has on anything.

Enlighten me, please. :)

The 25.5 imo is much more comfortable. You have much more room in the 12-22(24) frets.

24.75 is shorter, there is less tension on the strings, so bends are easier, but there is a but of a cramp on upper fret access....

^no way^ but yes it is easier to bend on 24.75 because there is less tension on the strings and it is less cramped on a 25.5 scale neck because there is slightly more space between each fret, especially on 21 fret-25.5" scale necks, i prefer 24.75" scale myself

Of course, he forgot to mention that the Gibson has 24.75in scale, and the Fender has 25.5in. Good luck.

Or, you can get the best of both worlds by getting a 25" scale length PRS :)

Kind of big for a set neck, but I'm not the best heel critic. I don't do that much fretwork that high up consistently to care. The rest of the neck is pretty damn comfortable, though :)

its a monster, seriously even though they are set neck they verge on being as bad as fenders in terms of the heel.....

baritones have 27" scales

the mike mushok sig baritone from ibanez is 28" scale and Schecter makes a 30" scale tuned one octive below standard.

and personally i agree with Dirk Gently, the 25" scale is great. my SZ is 25.1" and there is no difference feel wise. i perfer it over both the 24.75", feel cramped up, and the 25.5", just not a fan of it.
