So I heard The Who returned to Leeds this Saturday or something...was anyone there?

will_s
06-22-2006, 06:08 AM
i wasn't there but they wrote somthing in the newspaper about that here. apparantly the original album was meant to be "Live in Hull" but something got messed up with the bass recording.

i didn't know that

groll01
06-22-2006, 07:17 AM
that woulda been cool

crazynickman
06-22-2006, 11:30 AM
Does anyone knwo if it'll be released as a CD, because on pete's site he said "Thanks to yada yada for the new sleeve design" -does that mean what i think it means??
*salivates*

if Leeds will have a second edition? i doubt it. probably talking about the new album due in the fall.

pete and roger have been writing new songs, but i got the impression that a new album was still far away.

but the sooner the better i guess

crazynickman
06-22-2006, 12:01 PM
Pete is mixing it as we speak so i dont doubt it's existence anymore
I'm excited to hear Wire & Glass the new miniopera, i hope it's not all soft stuff.

me_and_my_esp
06-22-2006, 12:02 PM
odds are it will be all soft stuff. Pete's fuel in the 60's and 70's for making the greatest music EVER just isnt present here in the 2000's. at least not for him.

crazynickman
06-22-2006, 12:06 PM
I think it's still in him but eh, lets just keep our fingers crossed

and by the way, the who hit america in September to December :headbang: :wtf:
i fainted when i saw that. :D
theres hope for us americans yet, me and my esp!

mayeb they'll reprise their recording breaking concert in Detroit, 78,000 in a domed arena, i forget which, but yeah good luck with that :D.
I'm lucky because i live close enough to two MAJOR venues; Jones Beach and Madison Sqaure Garden. Plus Giants Stadium is within driving distance.

But as far as games go, its really good. Football stadiums are built really well as far as sightlines go as opposed to baseball satidums or the Garden up in the nosebleeds (ugh.)

but hey, when titonies get hit... they hurt too. i guess its comparable to balls. but a LOT bigger. depending on the girl, but in general, they are bigger. so dont be saying that.

O YEAH we have little babies hangin off of them sometimes. so HA.

So yeah.. The Who returning to Leeds.. its a cool way to start a tour :p:

crazynickman

i agree with you about the balls to tits. it actually does hurt to get them hit despite what SOME PEOPLE may think. and yeah, that is a good way to start a tour. but they are not as fantastic without keith moon or john entwistle. still gotta love roger daltrey and pete townshend though. its good of them to keep it going i guess.

The kid hit a line drive that hit me on the side of my head. crazynickman
06-25-2006, 04:31 PM
Pete wrote a new mini-opera called Wire & Glass (i think) for the new album, but before that (September-ish) they're going to release it by itself as an EP.

will_s
06-25-2006, 04:49 PM

I would pick... John Entwistle for my favorite. we all knew that was coming :haha freewheelinbird what have you done??

And you can't argue with the Ox's sense of humor: "Boris the Spider" is like the funniest song written in the 60s, and "My Wife" is pretty funny too. That black humor was so great coming from the only man who stood in one place for 2 hours in a group where mike-twirling, drum-trashing and guitar-smashing was not only common but essential.

"Not at all; they could be carried!"
"What, A swallow carry a coconut?"
"It could grip it by the husk!"
"Its not a question of where he grips it. It's a simple question of weight ratios! A 5 ounce bird...could NOT carry a one pound cocnut!"

I can quote that whole movie. Ready?

"One day lad, all of this will be yours."
"What, the curtains?"
"No, not the curtains lad. All that you can see, stretched out over the hills and valleys of the land! Thisll be your kingdom lad."
"But mother-"
"Father, lad, father."
"But father, I dont' want any of that!"
"Listen up! I built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here all there was was swamp. All the kings said it was daft to build a castle in a swamp. But I built it all the same!Just to show them. it sank into the swamp...so! I built a second castle. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third one! That burnt down, fell over then sank into the swamp bu the fourth one ::deep breath:: stayed up! And thats what you're gonna get lad. The strongest castle in these isles!!"

I'l stop there :)
