What is your favourite Sabbath album? Vote and Disscus. Mine would be between 'Black Sabbath' and 'Master Of Reality.' I love the bluesy feel of the self titled and the thick sludgy stoner-metal feel of 'Reality'

I absolutely LOVE 'Reality'. It has several of my favorite Sabbath tunes on it and the album as a whole has so much 'feel' to it, if you will. Plus, "Embryo" is the coolest 30 second instrumental I've ever heard.

The best sabbath album or at least my favorite for the time being is SABOTAGE

My favorite is the live album Past Lives. Studio albums? Hmm, toughie. I like the songs, just not really the sound in the studio as much as the live sound, believe it or not.

Yeah their live sound is pretty cool. A very raw sound.

Paranoid shouldn't even be on there...yeah, its great, we know and I know. But I think hit albums should never be on a poll like this. Not to insult the thread starter, it's just I try to avoid the obvious ones because people typically vote for those. Pink Floyd Thread: DSOTM, Led Zeppelin Thread: IV, AC/DC Thread: Back in Black. It takes away from their other works.

Black Sabbath. I love the whole damn package. It's so innovative and influenctial to my style of playing. Iommi is incredible.

Had to go with Paranoid. I liked their first album when it came out, but for me the best song on Black Sabbath was Black Sabbath. On Paranoid I always have a tie between Iron Man, War Pigs, and of course Paranoid. I think on the whole Paranoid was a more balanced album then any of their other works.

No insult taken. Yeah I agree though, I was expecting alot people to vote Paranoid, kind of typical

Heaven and Hell.

Bitch.

ratbollocks
06-24-2006, 05:49 PM
Yep, only the Ozzy era. The other stuff doesnt even sound like sabbath.

ź├Fire¤nside╗
06-24-2006, 07:49 PM
Yep, it's still Sabbath. And with a better vocalist.

Cptbeefheart
06-24-2006, 07:53 PM
True, Ronnie James Dio is a better vocalist techinically. But, Ozzy fits better with the band. Just my humble opinion though.

Gillan and Dio were good replacements but yeah, no one replaces the Prince Of Darkness himself. I'm gonna have to say Paranoid.

Heaven and hell or self titled, given the options though, self titeld :).

Anyone who votes a post-1978 sabbath album is crazy.

Their first 8 studio albums are amazing. Especially their first 5, i just can't decide between Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of reality, Vol. 4 or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

I'm going to have to vote for these 5 albums once each! Its the justifiable thing to do!

08-28-2006, 07:56 AM
Well... I have to say Paranoid, but only because of War Pigs. Reality and Black Sabbath (and the other albums) were great as well, but I think soley because Paranoid has War Pigs, it is superior :p:

I fell in love with that song the first time I heard it, and haven't gone back on it.

I like the first five albums the best. Hard to choose which one, but I voted for Master Of Reality because it doesn't have many songs they still play on the radio. Paranoid is their most popular album, but I've grown tired of the three songs from it that are constantly played on the radio. Heres how I rank the first five...

1.) Master Of Reality
2.) Black Sabbath (NIB and Wicked World are my favorite Sabbath songs)
3.) Paranoid
t3) Volume 4
5.) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

I got to say Paranoid, that album kicked ass

chopps00
08-28-2006, 09:39 AM
Yep, it's still Sabbath. And with a better vocalist.

I hope your joking.

Better vocalist than Ozzy? Prince of Darkness? To the depths of hell with you!

Black Sabbath for sure. I think it really defines the beginning of metal.

Well, it isnt on here, but easily Heaven And Hell...

You should have included the Dio-era. Ian Gillan-era and with Tony...

Jeeze, this is an old thread.

How many Sabbath threads do we have around here?!

...But since I never voted, Master Of Reality takes it by far for me. I never totally got into Paranoid. I think Master Of Reality and Heaven and Hell are the only 2 Black Sabbath albums that I can listen all the way through and think "this is a great album". Their other albums have excellent stuff on them, but some crap too. Just my opinion of course.

Gah, just the Ozzy stuff? Need some Dio or Tony albums up there.

Sabotage is my favourite album from the original line up, but my all time favourite Sabbath album, though, would either be Heaven & Hell or Headless Cross.

Computer God and After All make that album worth owning, but I never thought that the album as a whole was fantastic.

I would have to say my favourite Sabbath album (even though it's a tough one) would have to be Black Sabbath. I love the blues mixed with sluggish, dark metal feel and probably one of my fav songs from that album is N.I.B.

I had such a hard time with this one.....but had to go with "Masters of Reality". It would be the first album of theirs I actually listened to all the way through. While they are all great ,Paranoid is a given, "Masters" is the best to listen to cranked!

Although every album in the Ozzy era are brilliant in my mind, its hard to go past Paranoid as my favourite album. Simply turning up the volume and letting the e chord ring out on War Pigs is enough for me to class this as the best sabbath album.

Paranoid. My band still uses Electric Funeral for sound check
