Im not sure if there is a different thread or forum I should be posting this but here goes.

What is the best guitar I could get for $400 in terms of features and playability. I mostly play metal so I need a guitar that will sound badass. I was looking at the Schecter's (mainly the damien fr) and they caught my attention. Any suggestions?

Second Post? No....

The reviews for the Schecter said that it was a lot better than the epi les pauls (coming from ppl that owned a les paul b4)

Not to be a smartass, but, everyone has a favorite. Make a list of all the possibles in your price range, then sit down and play them all til your fingers bleed. Then pick a winner. Afterall, it has to play good and sound good to you. It doesn't matter what I think.

Well I guess I should rephrase my question. I dot need THE BEST, I'm really just searching for a good guitar that I wont regret buying. Something that will last me a couple of years.

Get something without a tremolo system, because for 400 dollars I've HEARD you will get a crap LFR or EP and they supposedly wear out fast. I would suggest You go to the store and go by which guitar you think has the tone you like, (bring your amp) and the neck thats comfortable

Dont settle

I would check out anything from Fender, Epiphone, Ibanez, too name a few. Any of those will give you good service. There are also pickup upgrades that you can do to tweak the right sound out of it down the road . I honestly didn't mean for my comment to be ugly. I have had people tell me that I shouldn't have bought an Epi SG, that is, until they play it. Good luck, take your time and check out several guitars, including different offerings of each selection. Some simply play better than others. Let us know what you buy.

Juat took a look at it. Its $500 and I like what I see, Ill definitly check it out when I go to Guitar Center.

I dont want a Les Paul because I already have a Les Paul style guitar and I'm bored of the look.

Fenders are overpriced.

Check it out for sure...

It also has a ZR trem system... One of the newest and most advanced trem systems available... Uses ball bearings instead of knife edges...... That thing wont go out of tune no matter what abuse u throw at it.

Yeah that's pretty sweet! When you go to GC see if you can talk them down a bit. I have friends at my nearest GC and I never pay full price.

Two things.
1. The s470 is 499

2. Do you KNOW that the LFR on the damien is shat? or is that just a generalization your making about them?

I heard the Damien was pretty solid, but still, trying that, and everything else you're intersted in is still best.

Jackson dk2 goes pretty cheap on ebay brand new condition. You can probaboly get one around $300 including shipping but it has LFR though.
