Is it just me, or does White Room sound exactly like Tales Of Brave Ulysses? It sounds like they have the exact same chord progression. Why is this?

Because they have the same chord progression?

The strum Clapton uses is very similar in both songs. Its a sort of 1-and-2-a 1-and-2 thing.

Plus both songs use wah pedal(Ulysses moreso however).

^^nah, it's easier than that. They're the same :)

My band always goofs on this by playing the White Room music to Ulysses words.

They do have similar chord progressions, I believe, but I think the vocal melodies are completely different and White Room sounds more majestic, imo, but I love White Room and Tales of Brave Ulysses equally.

Yeah, same descending chord progression...D, Cadd9, G/B whatever. I like White Room more.

tales of brave ulysses chords = D C G Bb
white room chords = Dsus4 Em7#5 Em7 Bb C

off the top of my head with no guitar to check

EDIT: also sounds very similar because the bass is almost identical
Tales - D C B Bb
White Room - D C B Bb C

yes the chord progressions are similar, yet white room's is more straight forward with simpler chords. idk but someone back me up with this: white room sounds "louder" than tales? maybe its just the vocals...

^I agree, its "heavier" to a degree, Tales is supposed to be all psychedelicized and smooth, kinda Floyd-ish

Em7#5 = 030030
Em7= 020030
I thought 020030 was G/B

no its a different way to play Em7 doubt it'll be G/B as it has the low E

What's G/B then? I've been notating it as that for a while.

Floyd were supposed to be Cream-ish!!

In 1967, when Disraeli gears was released, Cream were fairly big in the UK. Floyd weren't really more than an LSD - doused underground group then.
