So I got this idea the other day that people on the Blues/Jazz forum could share famous and/or cool sounding licks with each other--- I think it could help everyone become a more well rounded guitarist. So lets see 'em. And if you have anything to say about the lick, like who used it, tips on how to play it, etc. please feel free to write that too.

Ok here is one that Stevie Ray Vaughan loved, you can hear it in almost all of his songs. In the key of A:

E----------5--------7-5h7p5--------------------5--------------
B-------5-----8p5-------------8p5-----------5----------------
G---7b-------------------------------7-5-7b--------5~~~----
D-----------------------------------------------------------------

this is one of the coolest licks i know. SRV used in to wrap up his phrase often and you can hear it in the turnaround in the beginning of "pride and joy". theres sort of a rhythm to the notes, its not the notes you are playing, its how you are playing them. once you get it down its useful and you can build off it.

'Train sound'.Good for starting a blues song, the slide from 11th to 12th fret is very fast.

Bluesy lick, best repeated very fast. Used on Led Zeppelins 'The Lemon Song' and 'Dazed and Confused'.(Shown here in Em)

Another fast repeating blues lick, here in Am. See the solo in 'Stairway to Heaven', where Page repeats it 10 times.

A simpler version of the previus lick and then a favorate Santana lick, which is also used right at the end of the Stairway to Heaven solo.

This probably seems crappy to you true blues artists, but here's a little thing I throw in mainly when I play Bring It On Home:

^OK, I wasn't sure anyway. I'm not like a hardcore Delta guitarist anyway, the only blues I play are like Crossroads and any Zeppelin/ Hendrix stuff.
