I completely forgot about these guys. Yeah, they're pretty mental. The riffage reminds me of Between The Buried And Me, but they don't copy them, they make it their own musical wise. Kick ass dudes.

Ya these guys are great. I also agree with Craigo about how they sound like BTBAM but they dont, there quite original.

Am I the only one that doesn't see any kind of similarity between them and BTBAM?

I mean besides the breakdowns they really don't sound like them at all. Their breakdowns aren't even similar.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the people who say the sound like BTBAM know nothing about the genre at all. They sound as much like BTBAM as the Spice Girls.

Im digging this, their breakdowns are evil.

Yeah, Elysia's known locally in my area for some time now... they've recently gotten a lot bigger though. The guitarist in another local band I like used to drum out their beats on the desks at school, so I started listening to them awhile back hahaha

Everybody loves Filthy ^_^

Funny thing is, I went to school with all the founding members. basically grew up seeing them every day. Saw their first show, too. The only founding dudes left are Zak and Garret. I didn't even know they were in a band, until their old bassist Johnny told me about them in a Psychology class I was taking with them.

But, yeah they changed their sound because they got tired of fat pimpled kids screaming "YOU DON'T LIKE ELYSIA? THEN YOU'RE A FAGGOT. LOLOL. n00b." then singing along to Incinerate.

Their fans were ****ing idiots, no lie. Zak hated all of them.

ive heard a couple theories about why they changed style:

1. The story that aveks told
2. They went back to their original hardcore punk influences. they only played deathcore to expand their fanbase.
3. They got jumped one time for their lyrics in Incinerate, which i dont believe.

Which one do you guys think is true? or add another one to the list.

I'm really not shy at all, though. I'm really good with people, and I'm very open but I really don't like to be the one who starts the conversation. I have this weird feeling as though I'm barging into the person's life when I start a conversation with them when they haven't shown any interest in talking to me.

I like to interact with people, but I don't like having to jump up and down to get their attention, if that makes any sense? The few people I will do this for are people I'm sincerely interested in, or that I truly respect.

Okay, so I talked to Garrett for like 20 minutes last night at a show, and the official word is:

The band is ditching their name, reforming under a different name, and doing a conceptual album. He said him and zak want to leave behind the "whos the ****ing faggot now" days.

He said he wants to do something ambient, but heavy.... kinda Cult of Luna-ish. He seemed pretty stoked about it.

I checked them out based on all the replies on the first page of this thread, and I have to say, I really don't see anything special about this band. And I have NO idea where the BTBAM comparisons came from.

I listened to the new stuff on their myspace and went and found Incinerate on their purevolume since everyone's talking about that song. I just couldn't get into it.
