Hardcore - Talent = Grindcore

Grindcore = Not really my thing, but good for some.

I bought it, though I'm very sorry I did. I didn't realize it was like a 35 minute long ambient song and I was looking for some grindcore. So I pretty much wasted 14 dollars.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Ordinarily, I really enjoy black ambient type of stuff, but since I was expecting grindcore, it was a huge let down. In and of itself, the stuff on Natasha was decent for an ambient track, though not if you're listening to it and thinking, "Ok, when does this pick up?".

Just buy Terrifyer with this as the extra bonus disck, no? Or was that limited?

Most people will probably say Prowler in the yard, or Terrifyer, and I'd agree. Terrifyer if you like slicker production, Prowler if you like the opposite (not polar opposite, but more gritty).

Have you seen them live? They were a lot more likable for me, mainly just because I don't like the production on most of their albums. They put on a good show.

STABxYOU
01-10-2009, 06:49 PM
They don't play live often, and don't really tour... so I haven't gotten to see them. If they ever come to Toronto I'll be there faster then a crackhead scores rock.

piratemetalhead
01-10-2009, 07:09 PM
^Why? PD would be absoloutely intense live

Metal enough for metalheads and hardcore enough for the core fans (the kind without the skinny jeans and 400 dollar haircuts, that is).

STABxYOU
01-10-2009, 08:07 PM
They all have jobs, thus rarely have time for shows, and even less for anything resembling a tour.

I'd kill my mom to see PxDx live.

STABxYOU
01-12-2009, 08:51 PM
I wouldn't say it's better, just different. Prowler is more 'straight-up' grindcore, Terrifyer more technical and Phantom Limb more progressive.

I've seen some pretty funny stuff done by using Microsoft Sam, so it's a bit hard for me to take "Jennifer" seriously. Even if I did though, I still probably would've prefered it be narrated by a human.

I've been listening to Pig Destroyer quite a bit recently . Been mostly spinning Terrifyer, although I plan on revisiting Phantom Limb and finding out what all this craziness about Prowler Yard. So far I've listened to th first five or four songs.

It' funny really. Pig Destroyer was one of the first grind bands I listened to (probably THE first, but my memory is a bit fuzzy) but I never really got into them until now, though all of the musicians are brilliant at their respective instruments. Brian Harvey is just a ridiculously skilled drummer while Scott Hull can crank out some searing riffs. And damn, J.R. Hayes has can do some maniacal and demented screams. And in addition to that, he can write some downright disturbing lyrics.

I'm pretty sure they were in the studio in September or October, so maybe it'll be a spring 2011 release.
