Yeah but Guitar Pro 5 is a lot easier to use, and more advanced.

Personally, the Guitar Pro interface confuses me.
Then again, I started out using PowerTab and used it for a long time before even finding out what GP was.

The real big difference that most people will point out is that Guitar Pro has an actual DRUM section. Where as, in Powertab, you have a couple few little MIDI sounds for drums.

And yes. PowerTab is free, while Guitar Pro costs money, unless obtained through an illegal download.

Lately, a lot of people on this forum have been using GP, or so I've noticed.
Personally, I still use PowerTab.

GuitarPro is better IMO, for a few reasons:

1. It doesn't use MIDI, so it sounds more like real music.

Yes it does.
If you're referring to the new RSE on GP5, then that's one thing.
That's only available (to my knowledge) on GP5. All others use MIDI.
And you can switch between RSE and MIDI.

2. Easier to use.
3. More functions.
4. Drum Tracks
5. Wider range of instruments.

HOWEVER, as Lights said, it is not free. I too know how to get by that, but again, It's in my unbanned best interest not to mention that. However, it is worth the money, for sure.

Though i wouldn't know, I utilized "other" methods...

<_<
