Hi

What do you think is the worst amp (bass or guitar) you've heard or eperienced. IMO it is the Marshall MG30CDR -- absolute garbage. I've never heard worse clean tones ever. Or possible the Squier 10 watt, worst distortion ever. Tell me what you think.

The worst that Ive played on was a Christmas present from my parents: A Marshall MG15CD

Worst amp Ive ever heard (even as a n00b I knew its tone was garbage).

Probably this guy at church. It was a Crate 30 watt combo on clean, which shouldn't be a horrendous amp. I don't know whether it was the way he had it EQ'd, or his guitar, (A Wal-Mart Les Paul) but it sounded like ass. The other guitarist with his modded American Strat and Fender Super Reverb evened it out though.

Line 6 spider series. What makes it worse is NO ONE can seem to set the settings to where it's not annoying as ****. I go to local shows because I'm in a band and soo many people use these amps with a ****load of treble and bothers the hell out of me :)

Anything by Kustom. Need I say more.
Most SS Crates. Just hate the sound.
The MG series. Not so bad compared to the others. It's not a great amp but I'd rather have one than a Line 6 or crate.

Worst guitars?
Low end anything are horrible, the worst I think are Jackson and Ibanez (low end of course)
but that's basically every maker. Squier's are pretty bad, as well as quite a few actual Fenders I've played.
Then again, I'm playing a Gibson, which isn't the greatest.
High End ESP's are the ****.

Squier SP-10, which I think is the same as a 10 watt. The distortion is a load of crap, and it's the sole reason I invested in an overdrive pedal.

BB Blaster...the volume controls labelled "Enjoy", which surely makes them liable under the trades descriptions act. And there's an overdrive button marked "Zap" which makes it sound like an MG with a blown speaker.

squier amps are absoulte garbage, i can assure you, the Stagg CA10 is awful, i wasn't impressed by the Roland Cubes either, i thought they sounded very fake and untoneful. Maybe iwas unlucky 2 times.

My RMS practice amp. The sound of it makes me want to hurt small children. I'll have my Vox soon though :)

I had an RMS at one point. I stopped playing for years because it sucked so bad. When I could afford a real amp I was happy to send that POS to the dump where it belonged. The manufacturer should be tortured for putting such a crummy piece of equipment into the stream of commerce. That man must hate music.

Peavey XXL. MGs. ..etc

I wouldnt count cheapo amps that come in starter packs actual amps. They just make noise, theyre not supposed to sound good.

Behringer v-tone (gm108)- the distortion is hidious, and not even worth the 45 retail price. Yuk

i started with a marshall mg15cdr, and for a cheap amp i cant complain, it beats the 10 watt marshalls by far, they are hideous, but the behringers of the same price ranges take the biscuit, i've heard them with a 2,500 prs playing through them at a shop, the sales guy set it up best he could, but couldn't get a decent sound, in the end he decided to try using it as an example of how much better that little 10watt fender was....

the 15 watt squire amps, they start off 'okay' then literally fall apart in tone and construction. 5 of mates got the squire strat packs and every single amp is sooo shody.

Marshall mg
Line 6...any amp

My friend has something called a 'Fat Rat'. It makes the same amount of background noise, when clean, played through a humbucker archtop, as my (SSS) Squier Strat through a Frontman, Gain 10.

what does the cd in the name stand for?

crappy distortion?

10-21-2006, 09:33 AM
I've played the MG, the spider, and the squier. I have a RG 90 watt amp by "AXL" that sounds 10x worse than all of those, AXL produces 100% crap in my opinion.

And if you just say "crate" btw that's pointless, that's like me saying "some marshall amp" instead of mg. Big companies, many amps.

My encore practice belt clip amp

my first amp at a whole 3watts

even had distortion

no EQ

distortion sounded like someone getting kicked in the teeth with a steel cap.

I've got one of those and they work great for me! They're really good for playing live in smaller venues. The worst amp for me is any Kustom amp, apart from the acoustic ones which are good
