There's a lot of good reviews on the Squier '51.

Squiers can be good, you just need to be careful about the one you buy. Their QC ain't so hot.

To avoid having to buy a new neck... The Affinity and Standards come with maple boards. I'd err on the side of the standard, and try hard to find a diamond in the rough.

Yep. ^
The '51 is pretty good, actually.

The teles are the pick probably, some rad bands are still using squier teles.

My strat is pretty good, it's a 20th anniversary. But it need new pups still.

Affinity Strat would be the best IMO, its hardware wont last forever but the wood is alder, and on most other squiers the wood is agathis which has a bit of a dodgy sound unless you stick the gain up high but you owuldnt want to do that playing a strat anyway.

I just picked up a Squire strat... and even though I play Peavey and Ibanez guitars, I actually LOVE my new axe. Every fender player I know that has tried it has loved it so far. I actually got a good one, they said (apparently qc isn't so hot, as stated in a previous post).

i have squier affinity strat myself and it is an amazing guitar.
the pus are weak but still the sound is great.
the wood of the guitar is good and all in all it is very very durable.
i played slide with a mic stand on it and i even smashed it to the ground and nothing hapened---it works fine and can take all the abuse and beating.

HAHAHA... Squier.

Some squiers are very good i'll have you know but i must admit some do suck the majorly, and I've heard that a squier affinity strat with all upgraded parts passes off as a Mexi strat if the new stuff is decent, and i'm part way through doing this so i'll have myself a guitar on par with a fedner strat, but its a sham i'm making the guitar more of a metal guitar with the Iommi pickup, i'll have to pick up another one and make a Rory Gallagher strat replica

I'd also recommend the affinity strat, as it's the only one made from alder (maybe with the exception of special or limited editions).

Edit: I probably should've said the affinity series, as the affinity tele is made from alder too :peace:

I think the Telecaster is the best

Squier Affinity Strat=Great beginner guitar. I have had mine for about four years now and its just on the edge of needing a replacement (roll on Christmas). Although, I have heard a lot of better things about the teles...

With Squier be VERY careful as the quality control tends to be total crap.

I recomend the Telecasters as there is the least they can do wrong on them. They are simple guitars, but very reliable and play well. And Squier messes them up the least.

Hi I'm new here.....But you guys are crazy. Squiers are very decent. If you want a squier that beats out Fender you have to go w/the master series. They're only about $400 but hey, they're better than the fender standards. I have the chambered tele and w/the set neck and double duncan designed pickups....it's a shredding machine.

Keeping the last poster's post in mind...

There are some Squier guitars worth having.
